In Eden this week, each of us will have an opportunity to pledge a contribution in support of the Eden United Fund, which provides ser vices which Eden needs and must have to fulfill the human obligations of the community. Those of us with good health, good employment and a chance fo^' happiness have the privilege and responsibility for helping those wbe are less fortunate. This we can do, easily and conveniently, by pledg ing a contribution to the Eden United Fund campaign. The drive in the Fieldcrest plants and offices will continue through the week. Employees who are currently signed up on a continuing basis will not be solicited, of course, but all others will be contacted and invited to pledge a contribution. The pledge can be paid in siunl* installments over a 12-months period starting next January. E®' ployees are urged to pledge a “Fair Share” and a large percentage of employees already have made such pledges on a continuing basiS' The community-wide goal in the campaign is $150,000, represent ing the minimum amount needed for the continuance of the 11 healt® welfare and recreational agencies that receive support from the Ed®" United Fund. . A well-organized campaign is seeking pledges from all employ®^ persons at their places of employment. As at Fieldcrest, employees ni other businesses and industries are being asked to contribute on th® “Fair Share” basis. Employees of Fieldcrest can help insure the success of the overall campaign by contributing generously as they have in the past. If are not now signed up for continuing deductions, won’t you pledge 3 “Fair Share” in this year’s campaign? By doing so you will be joining with your fellow workers and fellow citizens in taking care of the human needs in the home community. You will enjoy a sense of satis faction in knowing that you joined with your neighbors and did part in an unselfish, most worthwhile cause. Give your Fair Share. Walter Joyce To Complete 40-Year Record Walter Joyce, a shift foreman at the Sheet Finishing Mill, tomorrow, Sep tember 28, will complete a 40-year rec ord of continuous service with the Com pany. On his anniversary date, company of ficials are to present him with his dia- mond-and-gold 40-year service emblem and other mementos of his service an niversary. Mr. Joyce is a native of Eden and has worked at the old Bleachery and the Sheet Finishing Mill during all of his years of service. He has never been off of the payroll for any reason since he started to work 40 years ago, Sep tember 28, 1931. He first worked on the mangle at the old Bleachery and later was a pillow case tearer. He became a shift foreman in 1946 and continues to serve in that capac ity, having moved to the Sheet Fin ishing Mill when it was opened in 1962. WALTER JOYCE
