Air Force Capt. Daniel B. Ahern
has been awarded the Distinguished
Flying Cross for valor in flying vitally
needed ammunition to a South Korean
airfield in the face of enemy fire.
The Air Force also announced it had
presented Captain Ahern his second,
third and fourth awards of the Air
Medal for “outstanding airmanship and
courage” on other vital missions, while
he was Hying a G-7A tactical airlift
aircraft.
Captain Ahem now is stationed at
Yokota Air Base in Japan as pilot of
a four-engine jet weather reconnais
sance plane. His awards were present
ed in ceremonies at the Japanese base.
The young pilot was a 1964 graduate
of San Rafael (Calif.) High School and
graduated from the Air Force Academy,
where he earned honors as captain of
the fencing team in 1968.
He is married to the former Ellen
Gaither of Prescott, Ariz.
Captain Ahern’s parents are Mr. and
Mrs. B. L. Ahern of 455 Calle La Mesa
in Novata, Calif. His father is the North
ern California sales representative for
the Karastan Marketing Division.
