Smithfield received a Certificate of Ap
preciation from the Vocational Indus
trial Clubs of America for its participa
tion in and cooperation with the In
dustrial Cooperative training program
at Smithfield-Selma High School. The
Automatic Blanket Plant was recog
nized by VICA at its annual banquet
held April 18.
Guest speaker for the evening was
Robert Morgan, attorney general of
North Carolina. Representing Fieldcrest
at the banquet were Michael L. Ryan,
plant personnel manager, and James r!
Lee, shift foreman. Control Assembly.
Fieldcrest members of the VICA
group are Diane Shrum, a recapper in
the Product Service Department and
Judy Harris, a solder chassis mounting
assembler in the Control Assembly De
partment. Miss Shrum served as pres
ident of VICA for the school year and
W'as also elected Outstanding Senior
Girl by her fellow students.
Miss Harris’ supervisor is James R.
Lee and Miss Shrum’s supervisor is E.
W. Delahooke.

Broadnax of Cascade, Va., is serving
in the U. S. Navy. He completed his
training in Great Lakes, 111., and is
now traveling in Europe.
