Jones. She has been accepted at Appalachian State University and will major in elementary education. Her father is a second hand in the Finishing Department at the Karastan Rug Mill. Johnny Thomas Oliver, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny T. Oliver, Sr., will graduate from Randleman High School. He has been accepted at the Univer sity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will major in journalism and Employee And Wife Vacation In Acapulco Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Philpott re cently returned from a trip to Acapul co, Mexico. The couple spent eight days at the Princess Hotel as guests of Gen eral Electric. The trip was awarded to W. G. At kins and Son, Inc. of Woolwine, Va. for exceeding their quota in sales of major appliances. Mrs. Philpott (Lucy) is sec retary and treasurer of the company. Mr. Philpott is an employee of Field- ale Towel Mill. broadcasting. His father is a doffer and his mother (Thelma) is a spinner at the Worthville Spinning Mill, Worth- ville. James Reid Shinn, a member of the 1972 graduating class at East Rowan Senior High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Shinn, of Rt. 5, Salis bury. He has been accepted at Pfeiffer College and will major in business ad ministration. His father is an autoclave open stock packer at the North Caro lina Finishing Company division, Sal isbury. Robin Gray Simpson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Simpson, will graduate from Fieldale-Collinsville High School. She has been accepted at Madison Col lege and will major in special educa tion and elementary education. Her mother (Lois) is a shearer operator at the Fieldale Towel Mill, Fieldale, Va. Joseph Timothy Sizemore, a member of the graduating class at Morehead High School, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred M. Sizemore, Jr. He has been accepted at North Carolina State Uni versity and wUl major in mathematics. He plans a career in research and an alysis. His father is general foreman of the Stock Dyeing Department at the Blanket Mill. Jerry Thomas Slaughter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cliarlie T. Slaughter, will graduate from Laurel Park High School, Martinsville, Vo. He has been accepted at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and will major in food science and tech nology. He plans to become an engineer in food processing. His father is a sec ond hand in the Packaging Department at the Blanket Finishing Mill. Joseph Daniel Turner is a member of the graduating class at Morehead High School. He has been accepted at North Carolina State University where he will major in chemical engineering- Both of his parents are deceased. His co-guardians are his half brothers, James H. Grogan, credit manager a the Karastan Service Center, and John L. Grogan, an industrial engineer a ihs Karastan Rug Mill. The Fieldcrest Scholarships are of' fered annually to employees and chil dren of employees of Fieldcrest Mills- Inc. Applicants must be high schoo graduates who are entering college fo^ the first time. . . In selecting the recipients, the in'- tial factors considered arc the aptitude for college work, as indicated by high school records and academic aptitude tests, together vdth leadership and citizenship in school and in the com munity, as evidenced by extracurricu lar activities.
