-.4 3 ■ : : a. 'It. V What Have You Planted? The storj^ is told of the Roman Emperor Hadrian finding an aged man planting olive trees and, since they grow so very slowly, saying to him, “Old man, these trees will not bear fruit for many years. Do you expect to be alive to eat of the fruit of your labor?” The old man replied: “My father and his father before him planted trees that I might have fruit. It is my duty, then, to provide for those who shall come after me.” Here is a basic principle of America’s progress. Our forefathers planted ideas, cultivated knowledge, practiced thrift and industry so that our nation has become the most prosperous the world has ever seen. If we don’t plant the seeds of freedom for future generations, culti vate the ideals and responsibilities we have inherited, our children will have little to inherit. What have you planted during your life? -CATERPILLAR FOLKS Everyone Wants Best For Money Shopping around, looking for the best value, is a habit most of us develop in our everyday life. The customers of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., develop this same habit, too. They buy what we manufacture on the basis of quality and value, or they reject it. Doing each job right the first time reduces costs, insures better quality and better service. Yes, doing error-free work — delivering quality production and better service — attracts customers, builds business and gives all of us more pride in our work and more personal satisfaction.
