Wi ml 7^'d ROOM Before using a lad der, inspect it for de fects and slippery con ditions. When going up or down, face the ladder, and use hands for maintaining grip only. Use a line to raise or lower tools and such items. The distance along the ground from the base of the ladder to the object on which it rests should be one quarter of the distance along the face of the ladder from its base to its point of support. TOP The top of the ladder should extend at least three rungs above the point of support on a roof or a scaffold. Avoid leaning over the side rail when working on a ladder. Move the ladder when work is beyond normal reach. At windows, lash a board across the top of the ladder to allow a bearing on solid surfaces at each side of the window. Don't use metal ladd around condi tors of electric ity. A ladder with spiked feet is not for use on hard surfaces such as a ladder. Have both feet of the ladder on a level base. Provide solid footing on soft ground to pre vent the ladder from sinking, and don't set it on or against any thing that might move. Don't lash short ladders to gether to make a long one, or use them as scaffolds or runways. Named Supervisor Cheryl U. Tolbert has been promoted to customer service supervisor at the the Blanket Warehouse, replacing Don nie L. Matthews who resigned. Mrs. Tolbert was formerly chief clerk in the Customer Service Department, having held that position since July, 1969. She is a native of Rockingham County and graduated from Ruffin High School in 1965. She has attended Rockingham Com munity College where she studied business. She has been employed at Fieldcrest since 1966 and first worked as a general clerk and typist at the Karastan Service Center. She was a junior physical laboratory technician at the Blanket Greige Mill immediately before becoming chief clerk in the Cus tomer Service Department. Chilton Sisters Tammy Eena Chilton, age seven, and Jennifer Lynn Chilton, age three, are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Chilton. Mr. Chilton is employed at the Non Woven Blanket Mill as a second hand- Development. The children’s mother, Edith, is employed at Chase Bag Co in Reidsville. Their grandfather, Frank Chilton, is a retired Fieldcrest employee. THE MILL whistle
