Wilkerson Is Named Semifinalist John F. Wilkerson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Wilkerson, has been se lected as a semifinalist for the More- head Scholarship and has also been nominated by Congressman Earl Ruth as a candidate for appointment to the United States Naval Academy. John ranks number one scholastic- ally in the 271-member senior class at Salisbury High School. He is vice presi dent of the National Honor Society, program and special chairman for the Science Club, and is a member of the French Club. John also serves as the school’s rep resentative to the Salisbury Board of Education and is responsible for keep ing communications open between stu dents and the board. He serves on the Environmental Task Force and is also president of the Salisbury Teen Age Republicans. John is a member of St. Luke’s Epis copal Church where he is chief acolyte and president of the Episcopal Young Churchmen. John’s father is director of engineering and services at the NCF division. .fiDUlFf Rl il». r»if(.fLADE Fieldcrest Float In Draper Christmas Parade Cheer leaders from Holmes Junior High School are shown as they rode the Fieldcrest) Mills float in the Christmas parade in the Draper section of Eden Saturday, December 2. Described as the “biggest and best yet”, the sixth annual parade was spon sored by the Draper Y’ Men’s Club, Eden Fire Station No. 2 (Draper) and Draper merchants. In all, there were some 50 entries i'' the parade which included everything from professional floats to, horses. MU' sic was furnished by the Morehead High School band. Dan Squires, a supervisor in the Spinning Department at the Drape! Sheeting Mill and a member of the Y S Men’s Club, was in charge of the pa' rade arrangements. At Karastan, left to right. Jack Carter, Dr. and Mrs. Freeston, Don Matheson Fieldcrest Is Host To Dr. And Mrs. Freeston Dr. W. D. Freeston, who a few months ago was elected director of the School of Textile Engineering at Georgia Tech, was the guest of Fieldcrest Mills, Inc., at the Company’s facilities in Eden Wed nesday and Thursday, November 29-30. Fieldcrest recruits heavily from the Textile School at Georgia Tech and Dr. Freeston’s visit was to enable him to be come better acquainted with the Field crest organization, its management and facilities. Fieldcrest presently has sev eral Georgia Tech alumni employed in the Eden area. Dr. Freeston was accompanied by his wife, Paula, and on Wednesday evening they were guests of Fieldcrest’s Georgi® Tech alumni at a dinner at Meado'^ Greens Country Club. On Thursday, the visiting couple tou!' ed the Karastan Rug Mill, General Oi' fices and the Fieldcrest Store.
