234 Cet OSHA-Approved First Aid Course A eiO^ 'ij^C L __■¥_ A total of 234 Fieldcrest employees have now received the American Ked Cross multi-media first aid course which meets the technical requirements of the new federal Occupational Safe ty and Health Act of 1970 (OSHA). All who completed this course received cer tificates valid for three years. This training and retraining of Field- crest’s first aid attendants was begun in November, 1972, in all mills and is continuing to date. Scheduling calls for completion of all mills by mid-1973. Although Fieldcrest has had trained first aid attendants for many years, OSHA regulations state that all first aid attendants must have completed a course developed either by the Ameri can Red Cross or the U. S. Bureau of Mines. The Fieldcrest Medical Department selected the Red Cross multi-media course as being best suited to the Com pany’s needs. The classes, which consist of films, workbooks and practice sessions, are being taught by Norman Austin, super visor of medical services, and Lloyd Bolt, medical technician, both of the Fieldcrest Medical Department. Both men hold instructor ratings from the American Red Cross for this course.
