Fulcher, the company’s J'ewest 50-year man, was honored by ‘he management of Fieldcrest Mills at ^ luncheon at Meadow Greens Country Club Thursday, March 1. Mr. Fulcher was presented the Field- ‘^'^est diamond-and-gold 50-year pin, a and other remembrances. Included the latter were a telegram and a let- from President William C. Battle a letter from Robert A. Harris, ex ecutive vice president. In the telegram, Mr. Battle expressed *'egret that a board meeting in Boston Prevented him from attending the luncheon. Mr. Simons, who has known Mr. Fulcher for 35 years, told of early in cidents in Mr. Fulcher’s career. He praised the new 50-year man for his valuable services to the company. In a brief response, Mr. Fulcher ex pressed appreciation to the other 50- year employees for their presence at the luncheon. He said, “I want to thank all my superiors at the Towel Mill and thank Fieldcrest Mills. It is nice to work 50 years for a company that does appreciate your service.” Company officials attending the luncheon, in addition to those previous ly mentioned, were Dr. L. H. Hance, vice president-research and engineering; W. O. Stone, division vice president- bath fashions manufacturing; R. A. Sitler, general superintendent-finishing, Fieldale Towel Mill; R. L. Jamerson, superintendent-weaving, Fieldale Tow el Mill; O. L. Raines, Fieldale person nel manager; S. R. Culligan, of Forest City, an area personnel manager; R. L. Wilkes, director of employee benefits and services; and W. O. Marlowe, ed itor of The Mill Whistle. Mr. Fulcher, a native of Patrick Coun ty, Va., has worked at the Fieldale Tow el Mill continuously since March 1, 1923. A section foreman, he has been head of the Slashing Department for nearly 40 years. When he retires October 1 he and Mrs. Fulcher expect to travel extensively. They plan to go first to Europe and next to Hawaii. They then plan to buy a camper and spend some time touring the United States. N K
