First Lady
Visits Eden
In keeping with tradition, North
Caroiina’s First Lady visited the
Fieidcrest Store in Eden recently
to select bed and bath fashions for
one of the governor’s residences.
Mrs. Carolyn Hunt, wife of Gov.
Janies B. Hunt, Jr., came to Eden
on May 23 and selected bed and
bath products primarily for the

The grants-in-aid should not be
confused with the Fieidcrest
Scholarships awarded each year for
a four-year college program only
and are not available to students
who have completed some college
work.
Employees To Get Benefits Statements
For the first time this year, a personalized benefits statement is being
prepared and sent to all employees. It will contain a summary of the
benefits being provided by the company. They will be printed shortly and
should be mailed within the next two weeks. More details will be printed in
the next Mill Whistle, which should be issued at the same time the
statements are being mailed.
Savings Bonds
Campaign Set
A company-wide campaign to
interest Fieidcrest employees in
U.S. Savings Bonds will begin at all
facilities on June 20.
During the period between June 20
and June 24, employees who wish to
sign up for Savings Bonds may do so
right in their own departments by
contacting their immediate super
visors.
Vice president-industrial Re
lations Haven H. Newton, chairman
of the Fieidcrest campaign, said in
announcing plans for the campaign:
“When you want to invest in the
future, Savings Bonds are a safe and
