Employees in outlying locations should send the Eden News reporter Neil Purdy spoke to a group of employees from all levels of production, manage ment and clerical personnel, concluding an eight-week course in Basic Writing Principals offered via UNC-TV last fall. The non-credit course aided more than 75 employees who use writing in their job in improving their communication skills. Moderators of the course were Jack Carter and Milton Rankin of the Industrial Relations Department. Purdy told the group that effective communication is achieved through simple, accurate and to-the-point writing. One might confuse the reader if the letter or report is over written, he said.
