40 Years Of Service
Three Fieldcrest employees have
completed outstanding records of
forty years of continuous service
with the company. They have been
honored by management and pre
sented the 40-year emblem, a $40 gift
certificate for company merchan
dise and a letter of commendation
from William C. Battle, president of
Fieldcrest Mills, Inc.
Frank Adkins joined the company
in 1933 as a quill hand at the Blanket
Greige MiU. In 1942 he became a
weaver at that mill. Later, he took
the job of jacquard weaver, a posi
tion he still holds.
Howard Hyler, Jr. also began
work at the Blanket Greige Mill in
1933. He was a quill collector. He has
held the jobs of filling carrier,
weaver, instructor, loom fixer, and
change fixer at that mill. For a brief
period he was a spare weaver at
Draper Sheeting Mill. Presently, he
is head overhauler at the Blanket
Greige Mill.
Lillie Roberts has been at Draper
Sheeting Mill since she came to work
for Fieldcrest in 1933. She began as a
spinner and stayed in that position
until 1972 when she was a roller pick
er. Later that year she returned to
the spinner job, the position she now
has.
