Crumley has been brought to my attention that the athletes representing the Karastan and Service Center had an unknown drug in their blood system upon 'Completion of the Fieldcrest Olympic Games. This matter is now before the Pieldcrest International Committee for further study. There is a possibility ^hat your team may be stripped of the Olympic crown and be banned from future competition. I will advise later. J. Dolphus Huffmanstein Chairman Fieldcrest International Committe 'cc: Mr. W. O. Stone Local Social Security Office Or SS income After Retirement the last two 5^crest employees an years, all have been Employee Benefits Sh^fled . . Ijjj'f^tnent containing, among other '^'^niation, an estimate of Social J^'^firity benefits. The response has very favorable. People find the r^etnents, including the Social purity estimates, very useful. ,,, Or most of us, the Social Security '^'fiiates will be quite accurate. .%ever, for any employee with [j,fhings which have varied widely year to year or any employee has had covered earnings in any ^ploymment other than with Fieldcrest, the Social Security estimate will not be accurate even though it is the best estimate that we can get using the information and the system that we have available. Wilson, Penney Nance, Calvin Meeks, and captains Tom Smithwick and Arlene Campbell. In an evening of athletic frolicking and family fun, several hundred Fieldcrest employees participated in the first Fieldcrest Olympics at the Eden YMCA on May 1. Ten teams from the various Eden mills and office buildings competed for the championship and a rotating plaque in 11 unusual events as spectators cheered them on. And when it was over, one point determined the championship. Employees from the Karastan Rug Mill and Service Center edged by the General Offices’ “red team” in their climb to the top. Final ranking of the teams and points were as follows: Ist-Karastan Rug Mill and Service Center (192); 2nd-General Offices “red team” (191); 3rd-Sheet Finishing (149); 4th-General Offices “blue team” (121); 5th-Bedspread Finishing U13); 6th-Blanket Greige Team 1 (89); 7th-Bedspread Greige (78); 7th-Blanket Greige Team 2 (78); 9th- Blanket Finishing (76) and 10th- Draper Sheeting (41). The games that started out in fine Olympic style with a simulated torch also ended on a familiar Olympic note when the victors received the ironic telegram shown at left the next day. Ah, sweet revenge! The annual Eden YMCA member ship drive began on May 15 and will continue until June 15. Fieldcrest employees again this year have the opportunity of joining the YMCA under the Payroll Deduction Plan during this time only. New memberships under the Payroll Deduction Plan will become effective on July 1. However, employees joining for the first time who wish to begin their YMCA activities before July 1, may do so for a nominal fee. More information on this may be obtained from Ella Mae Anderson at the YMCA on Kennedy Street. Those already on payroll deduction memberships who will be renewing are paid up through June 30. Brochures containing information about the various types of member ships, costs, the Payroll Deduction Plan, and an application blank are available from supervisors as are the payroll deduction cards. Both the application blank and the payroll deduction card must be filled out (Continued On Page Two) Open House At Scoifsboro Employees of the Scottsboro^ Rug Mill are invited to bring their families to an Open House at the new facility on Sunday, May 28, at 2 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
