Page 8 THE DIALETTE April 1948 “THE CROSBY Adams—Artists” (Continued from page 1) By this time Mrs. Adams was thoroughly dissatisfied with the way music was being taught. Af ter thinking about this problem a great deal, it suddenly occurred to her to write her own ideas down, and also to write pieces for pupils which would sound grown-up, but be simple enough for children to play. She carried out her ideas and was soon using them in a school which she and Mr. Adams established. After years of suc cessful teaching, they built their dream home here in Montreat. Thirty-five years ago they came to Montreat “to retire,” but they still amaze their friends by the number of things they accomplish. No one could guess by the full life they lead that both of them have recently celebrated their ninetieth birthday anniversary. Mrs. Adams still gives concerts and will give her annual one here at the college on April 10. She will play several of her own compositions and those of other composer? as well. The Adamses live quietly and simply in the “House in the Woods” surrounded by the charm ing atmosphere of which they are the center. Their life is full of “the beautiful” and friends visiting there soon find them selves taking turns telling of the most beautiful thing they have ever seen. Perhaps their great success and happiness come from their always looking into- the future, from their great love for each other, and from their love of beauty. They are artists and their life is a work of true art. KEY CITY CAB CO.
