Page 6 THE DIALETTE December, 1948 HIGH SCHOOL PLAYS SOCCER AND INDOOR GAMES The High School soccer tourna ment is still being played. For the fourth game of the tournament, the Chickasaws tangled with the Shawnees and broke their back- line twice to win by a 4-0 score. The next game, between the Se quoias and Apaches, was a closely contested one. The score of 2-2 is a sufficient explanation of how exciting was the battle between the two equally matched teams. The Blackfoots and Shawnees played the sixth game of the tournament, and ended in a tie, 2-2. The seventh game of the season between the Apaches and Blackfoot ended in an 8-0 score with the Apaches on top. In the following game, the Shawnees defeated the Sequoias ’ y one point, 4-3. Across the hall from Miss Webb’s room is a wonderful place for tab le tennis lovers to spend a little leisure time. There is a complete ping pong set for the use of stu dents at specified hours, and those who have been there seem to love it. If you haven't been down to 241, why don’t you go? CHRISTMAS PLAY IS (Continued From Page 1) innovations in the form of furni ture. Time grew short. Suddenly it was the night of dress rehearsal. Oh! The less said about that the better. The Christmas “tree” from up the mountain was pronounced “scrawny.” Lines weren’t pro nounced at all, and Mr. Mooney pronounced the play a mess — or words to that effect. Saturday. Orders to the cast: SOCIAL EVENTS The girls of the Sophomore Home Economics Foods Class enter tained the Juniors and Seniors with a tea December 3, and the fac ulty with a party on December 8. On December 4, at 8:00 P. M., the College Dramatics Club presented the play, “Christmas for Cinderella.” There was a large attendance of both students and townspeople. Misses Ann McClintock and Mary Bess Plyer visited their respect ive homes in South Carolina over the weekend of December 5. The Council has been making Christmas stockings for the patients at the Sanitorium. They worked in the Home Ec. lab for almost three weeks to get these done for the patients’ Christmas. “WILLIE” KERLEE VOTED SOCCER QUEEN Miss Wilhelmina, “Willie” Ker- lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Kerlee of Black Mountain, was elected as the Soccer Queen to reign over the Montreat School Thanksgiving game. “Willie,” a Junior, came to Mon treat in her freshman year and has made a fine record since that time. The Athletic Board, as well as the Chickasaw Tribe, are proud of “Willie” and her leadership ability. With her guidance, the Chickasaws appear to work to gether as one in a spirit of good sportsmanship and love for their tribe. “Willie” seems to be very inter ested in the University of Con necticut, and we think that she has a very good reason. Gene seems to be a swell guy. “Get a half hour sleep this after noon.” A new tree properly deco rated. At 6:46 the beginning of make up, etc. Last minute prep arations. Then . . . Curtain! COLLEGE TURNS TO INSIDE ACTIVITIES Indoor sports are taking the headlines in the sports world this season, leaving the soccer tourna ment as a vague memory to all of us, except the Mohawks who came in first place, and the Navajos who rolled in second place. Much interest has been aroused ’n indoor sports as a result of the new ping-pong tables that are now in College Hall and Fellow ship. Other highlights are the games which are being played in the lobbies and the organized in door sports consisting of teniquoits, ping-pong, and skating. Hereto fore, interest in indoor sports has been somewhat lacking, but these games promise to prove as exciting as the soccer tournament.
