VOL. 16, NO. 3. MONTREAT COLLEGE, MONTREAT, NORTH CAROLINA NOVEMBER, 1950 Seniors ChoflenAs Four Superlatives After much deliberation, the final selections of the superlatives of the senior class were made by the student body. Because there are so many gifted seniors this year, it was a very hard task, but here are the results, the four chosen as best of the graduating class of 1951. Betty Martin was selected from a number of fine Christian girls to bear the title, TRUE SPIRIT UAL VISION. Betty, who is the vice-president of the S. C. A., lets her light shine all over the camp us, and Christ is certainly mani festing Himself through her. ‘GRACIOUSNESS was bestowed on tall and attractive Pat Harley. Pat, who always has a cheery smile and a friendly word for everyone she meets, is certainly worthy of this honor. This, plus her leadership abilities, makes her a grand president of the senior class. Jane Holt is truly deserving of her title, JOY IN LEARNING, and she was accorded this crown unanimously by her fellow stu dents. .lane, the Editor-in-Chief of the S. P. S. is a vivacious and en ergetic girl and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone. “The best things always come in .small packages.” This can truthfully be said of SPORTS MANSHIP, Alice Wardlaw. Alice, the president of the Athletic As sociation, is really a good sport in everything. Not only on the athletic field does she show the fine qualities of a good sport, but she also displays sportsmanship in the daily classroom and in her soc ial life. There, you have the cream of the crop. Hats off to you, Super latives — we congratulate you! And to the student body—your choices were indeed wise ones! Patronize Our Advertisers! Know The Alumnae The students of Montreat Col lege will be delighted to see so many of the alumnae back for homecoming on Thanksgiving. Here are a few notes of inter est about the graduates from the class of '49. PATRICIA COX is a student at W. C. in Greensboro. Allen Is New Secretary The student body welcomes an old Montreat girl back to home. Miss Mildred B. Allen, new secre tary to Dr. McGregor, attended Montreat High School in 1939 and 1940. After her graduation in 1940, she attended Mitchell Junior Col lege. Upon completion of her schooling at Mitchell, Miss Allen journeyed down into St. Peters burg, Florida, where she worked for the big newspaper, the TIMES, for three years. Naturally her talents were soon uncovered and so she joined the Florida State Advertising Com mission, where she was a staff writer and field director of photo graphy for national magazines and syndicates. Even in the past eight een months, she has hardly had time to catch her breath for she has been a student of the Florida Everglades. So you see, Miss Allen has really accomplished a great deal since she bade Montreat a fond farewell in 1940. We know you will be an asset to Montreat, Miss Allen, and we sincerely hope that you are as glad to BE back as we are to WELCOME you back. Faculty Members Attend N. C.
