VOL. 16, NO. 6 MONTREAT COLLEGE, MONTREAT, NORTH CAROLINA FEBRUARY, 1951 Montreal Graduate Is Welcomed Back As New Field Representative Staff Proud Of Two New Members Congratulations on your promotion from Sports Editor to Reporter, Terry; and, “Jinx”, welcome to the Staff! When we lost Elizabeth Clodfelter, we knew that we had to find another reporter with an alert mind, ability, experience, and a way with words. Soon we decided that Terry Kane, who has been serving ably as Sports Editor, was the girl. “Now, who will be our Sports Editor?” was the next question. Our solution to this problem is Virginia Bean. Virginia — or “Jinx”—is a Junior who is very active in the field of sports. We feel sure that we can expect up-to-the-minute news on sports activities from her. We are fortunate in having both of these girls as Staff members. Be sure to look for their articles in coming issues of “The Dialette.” ANNE McCLINTOCK CUPID ENTERTAINED | By Ellinore Krieger On February 12, the S. C. A. entertained at a party in honor of Mr. Daniel Cupid. After a rather “shaking” experience with the reception line, the guests joined in games and songs. One game especially en joyed was musical chairs at which Miss Jeanette Nash made herself outstanding by out-sitting. The guests then divided in to four groups to see which group could think of the most songs containing the word LOVE. It was revealed that most of those present knew more about love than anyone suspected. Everyone received personal greetings from Mr. Cupid. The first four selections were sung by the mixed chorus of boys and girls; next came three selec tions by the Girls’ Glee Club. Owen Nor- ment and Phoebe Fair both sang solos. The Boys’ Glee Club presented three very beautiful spirituals. A piano solo was given by Susie Tweed, Lee Edwards student. The program was concluded with the entire chorus singing, “This Is My Country” and “One World.” Director of the chorus was Mrs. Graham Reams; student directors were Beverly Lingo and David Reid, and stu dent accompanist was Shirley Muse. Was May Queen Here In 1949 Miss Anne McClintock, a former Mon treater, has recently accepted the position of field secretary for Montreat College. She fills the position which has been vacant since the resignation of Miss Mary Jo Jackson, who is now Mrs. Jess Bratton. Anne was born in Winnsboro, South Car olina, and has lived there all her life. She was graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1945, and entered Montreat Col lege in the fall of 1945. She was graduated from Montreat in 1949 with a double major in Bible and Business Education. She at tended the summer session of Assembly’s Training School in 1949, and then accepted a position teaching Bible in the public schools in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. While she was a student at Montreat, Anne served on both the Athletic Board and the S. C. A. Council. She is agreeable and easily adaptable, for she has no strong dislikes. She enjoys hiking, reading, and talking to interesting people. One of the things she likes most is Montreat; so she is well suited for her job. We extend a hearty welcome to Anne and are very glad that she has come back to be one of us again. COLLEGE ACTIVITIES GROUP ORGANIZED An important addition, a College Activ ities Group of the local chapter of the American Red Cross in Black Mountain, has been made to Montreat College.
