OFF TO MITCHELL “Over hill, over dale, we have hit the dusty trail, as the hikers go tramping alongl” This might be a portion of the dialogue of the forty Montreaters, lead by Miss Smith, who trudged across Greybeard Mountain for the first six miles and strolled along a precarious dirt road for the next lap of the annual pilgrimage to Mitchell. Did I say strolled. During this part of the hike all participants kept their eyes peeled for a suitable picnic ground where they could enjoy their lunch. After eating and refilling their canteens with cool spring water, they began the up-grade climb on a hard-surfaced road. Some of the weary hikers were tempted to hitch a ride with the travelers who passed by in cars. While viewing the beautiful scenery, the weary hikers ended a perfect with a picnic and sentimental songs around a picturesque campfire.
