NEW FACES While visiting New York, Bill and I had the privilege of seeing the new Broadway hit, “New Faces.” We were taken with Barbara and Ray, a cloud, to a land of dreams. The fir.=* melody was, “I’m In Love With a Wonder ful Guy,” sung by a group of girls mak ing their debut that night. As we observed Barbara and Ray exchanging their senti ments of this tune, we found ourselves doing likewise, because, I, too knew what a wonderful guy Bill was. Then, the new starlet, Janice Blackburn, danced a ballet to “Younger Than Spring time.” As Thelma Grant sang the words, we recalled the springtime that we first met. This has been our theme song, too. Hearing “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of My Hair” brought to my mind the time he gave me a baby rattler for my birthday and told me to act my age. I Was all of 18 years old, too! I felt like washing him out of hy hair, just as B. J. Zeigler did on the stage. Quincy Bault performed a most dra matic dance, while Barbara Hill accompan ied her as soloist in “Bali Hi.” It seemed to cast a spell over us—as though we had been carried to that sea island, also. Genevieve Landrum sang “Make Believe,” e perfect name for the dream land we were visiting. Rill,” sung by vocalist Joan Hill, ex pressed the very words that I had always Wanted to say to my Bill, but I had lacked the courage. I’ve never been good at ex pressing my feelings. Martha Stone not only was dramatic, but also lived every word of the “Riff Song”— ^ song so like the desert land in which she was raised. No truer words were spoken than in tha vocal and dance routine “You’re Just m Love” by Berky Jo Cooper and Sandra rye. Ray first told Barbara of his love or her while they listened to this song. It Would soon be time to leave this ream land that had enraptured us, but 0 performance would not have been com- P eie without Margie Blackstone singing You Never Walk Alone.” These words applied to Barbara and Ray, Bill and me, and every other couple in love. There is another meaning, deeper and richer than e love a couple have for each other, is the assurance of God’s great love for *^s. While He is in our hearts, we never Walk alone. ^Yhy, I’ve seen this play before! Yes, ®ven the actresses are the same! Broad- purchased “New Faces”, the play com- Piled and directed by Norma Karstens w lile she and her classmates were Fresh- in Montreat College! November . Here are the highlights of the two tournaments between the Blue and Gold Teams. During the first quarter of the first game. Broom cleverly scored 1 point; by half time the Blue team had a total of 4 points. In the third and fourth quart ers Gillespie recovered the ball and made 3 points while Blackburn scored 2. Bishop in her gentle manner, during the third quarter, triumphed for only 1 point for the Gold, ending the game with a score of 9-1 in favor of the Blue. The second game was livelier for the Blue team, but was without points during the first half, while the Gold team had 4 points made by Landrum and another point by Bishop. During the third and fourth quarters. King quickly scored 2 points, while Gillespie gracefully hurled in 2 more points, along with points for 2 penalty kicks, thus ending the tournament with a G-s’ score. Blues the champions. Goodbye until next year. Congratula tions to both teams for their fine spirit! Dear Heide: Since my elves tell you’ve been quite good, I’ll do my best to bring you a roles- cator (my own invention.)
