He is a well qualified person with an A.B. degree from Hampden-Sydney College and a B.D. and Th.M. from Columbia University. As one walks into Mr. Anderson’s class one might think that the attentiveness is demanded as he spent three years in the U. S. Army; but it is just the way he pre sents it to the class—which is so good that we hate to have the bell ring. Can you imagine such a thing!! After serving his duty for Uncle Sam, he then went to Presbyterian College where he was the Professor of Bible from 1947- 1954 and Dean of Students from 1954-1956. From there he came to Montreat College where he and his wife and seven children reside. Dr. Ralph Brimley is a native of North Carolina and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina State College, his Master’s from the University of North Carolina, and his Doctorate from George Washington University. He taught in the school system of Winston-Salem, N. C., be ginning as a teacher, then a coach, as sistant principal, and then principal. From there he went to the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina. During his busy career Uncle Sam called Dr. Brim- ley to serve his country. After fulfilling his duty he has worked for the past 10 years in the Forsyth County Public School System. Dr. and Mrs. Brimley have two daughters and are the proud boasters of four grand children. Dr. Brimley said, “This is my 29th year of working with young people and I have never found a finer group of girls to work with than the girls here at Montreat.” Dr. Karl Snyder comes to us by the way of Los Angeles, California—where Occident al College is located and from this place he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then changed his location to the Uni versity of California where he received his two highest degrees in Entomoloy—insects to us unfortunate ones! As for his working experience—and he did work—he spent five years in an Agri cultural Experiment Station in Albany, California. He also raised butterflies, and to quote Dr. Snyder himself, “I was a but terfly tickler and I someday hope to talk to the student body on this subject ” (What are we waiting for—let’s hear!!!) He also taught Biology in various locations throughout the State of Texas. Along with all his duties at the college he has time for a hobby. This is making electronic display boards and he hopes to have one here someday. One might wonder how it is that Dr. Snyder comes to us since he is all the way from California. This is because he is in terested in church-related schools and also, his wife is a native of North Carolina. We are all mighty glad that it was Montreat he chose! The Snyders, along with their three children, reside on Tennessee Road m Montreat. Mr. Clair Hardenstine, whom everyone is acquainted with as the conference organis at Montreat for the last two summers, hails originally from Tannersville, Pennsylvania. He received his Bachelor of Arts from West minster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey and from there he went to Hunts ville ,Alabama where he was the Minister of Music at the First Methodist Church for three years. From here he went to the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Montgomery, Alabama, also as Minister of Music for three years. It was here in Montgomery that Mi' Hardenstine became interested in dramatfe He has played major roles in THE HASTY HEART, LO AND BEHOLD, TIME OUT FOR GINGER, and PENNY WISE. Besides his professional acting ability he has also directed quite a few plays as PORTRAI IN BLACK, THE SHINING HOUR, NIGHT MUST FALL. Thalians—here’s the answer to your prayers. Although Mr. Hardenstine is a Yankee by birth, he is a Southerner by choice; an we are very glad, for it is an happy 6^' perience for Montreat to have Mr. Harden stine as an instructor in Voice, Piano, Con ducting, and Chorus. A man walked into a movie theater and found a place behind a couple who ha brought their dog with them. The man be came so interested in watching the dog that he scarcely noticed the picture. When the movie was amusing, the dog looke happy and pleased; when the plot became tense, the dog straightened up and acte concerned; when the actors were sad, the dog was absolutely distressed. After the movie, the man remarked o the dog’s owner, “I just couldn’t keep my eyes on the screen for watching your dog- He acted as though he understood every thing.” The owner replied, “Yes, my dog really has enjoyed this movie. I was surprise , because he didn’t like the book at all. Dialette
