Vol. I, No. ^ MONTREAT^MDERSON COLLEGE MAY DAY-COLORFUL EVENT The annual May Day fes tivities were held Satur day, May 8, 1965, at 3:30 p.m, on Anderson Lawn, The program began with the pre sentation of the MayCburt, The freshman attendants were Macye Crowder, escort ed by Jimmy Guess, and Sandie Plexico escorted by Gary Salvaggio, The soph omore attendants were Beth Brooks, escorted by Rich ard McMurry, and Kathy ¥ al t e r s, excorted by Leonard Hassell. The maid of honor, Linda Kight, was escorted by Bobby Smith, The flower girl was&verly Caston and the croTO bear er was Thomas Uzzell, Maggie Palmer, escorted by Stuart Verch, was the May Queen, Scotty Scott, Pres ident of the Student Gov- vernment - Association o f 196l!-65j crowned the queen. Sponsor Honored As a token of apprecia tion for all the hard work she had done for May Day, Mary Carsxjell was present ed a corsage and a gift. Following the presenta tion of the court, a pro gram of dances xras present ed by students of the col lege. May Day closed with a tea in the rain. The coun cil has many challenging, exciting and spiritual activities planned for the student body. The ijouncil have: chosen three adult couples t o work with them i n the coming year. C, A., Page 5 May 21, 1965 A VISIT WITH THE CORBETTS It was our pleasure to interview two lovely peo ple of the Montreat com munity, Mr. and Mrs.Corbett for this issue of the pa per. Mr. Corbett was born in Edge Combe County, Hbrth Carolina, and Mrs. Corbett was born in Pamlico County, North Carolina. It is very interesting to note how Mr. and Mrs. Corbett met. They were each at tending a wedding in Troy, North Carolina. Mr. Corbett was friend of the groom and Mrs. Corbett was a friend of the bride. Some how they ran into each other that afternoon and their friendship ended as a happy marriage. Mrs. Corbett graduated from Woman's College of North Carolina and received her Master's degree from the University of North Carolina. M r. Corbett graduated from Staunton Military Academy in Staun ton, Virginia. He was in World ^'ar I writh the 321st Infantry,. . known as the- 8lst' Wildcat Diviaion, He Worked with the postal service at Fort Bragg un til he retired in November, 1956.
