Piggy is practically blind with- ois glasses. These glass es are shattered in one'of *^3tties, and their de struction symbolized the decline of human reasoning, The plot moves from orga nization and sanity t o chaos and depravity. Even the fact that the little boys are finally res cued by the ship is no cause for relief, since Golding makes it obvious that these children are only being res cued back into the same kind of corrupt atmosphere that they left on the island--the world as fashioned ty adults.
