Johnny Billings goes up to give the Montreal team two more as
the Cavaliers stomp Gaston 63-59.
The team would like to
thank the cheerleaders and the
student body for the tremen
dous support that we racieved
at the Gaston game, Ttie spirit
and noise really helped. We
have two remaining home games
against Fitzpatrick and
Mitchell College and we would
like to see as much spirit at
these two games as we saw when
we played Gaston,

THE I9TH
Tho Cavalicjrs broke an
eight - gaune losing streak on
Tuesday night, February 1, as
they defeated Gaston College
63-59. win avenged an
earlier loss to Gaston.
Montreat's record is now
3-10. The Cavaliers need one
more win to tie the record for
the most victories in one
season and two wins to break
the record.
Don Patrick got the Cava
liers off and running as he put
Montreat on the ' scoreborad
first. Increasing their lead
to 6-0 it looked as though the
Cavaliers would have no trouble
with Gaston. Then as has
happened so many times during
the season, the Cavaliers grew
cold, Gaston quickly took the
lead and went into the dressing
room, at the half, leading 27-
21.
Falling behind by as much
as nine points it looked as
though Montreat would go down
to their ninth straight defesU
Not giving up, the Cavaliers
fought their wa^^ back and with
just under six minutes left to
play, Linwood Orenduff sank
two free thrcr/js to tie the
score at U8-all, a.
After Gaston took Sl-Ho
lead, reserve John Billings
hit on a lay-up and a foul shot
to tie the score once again.
Again Gaston went ahead by
three but Patrick hit on two
