The team would like to thank the cheerleaders and the student body for the tremen dous support that we racieved at the Gaston game, Ttie spirit and noise really helped. We have two remaining home games against Fitzpatrick and Mitchell College and we would like to see as much spirit at these two games as we saw when we played Gaston, TCHELL THE I9TH Tho Cavalicjrs broke an eight - gaune losing streak on Tuesday night, February 1, as they defeated Gaston College 63-59. win avenged an earlier loss to Gaston. Montreat's record is now 3-10. The Cavaliers need one more win to tie the record for the most victories in one season and two wins to break the record. Don Patrick got the Cava liers off and running as he put Montreat on the ' scoreborad first. Increasing their lead to 6-0 it looked as though the Cavaliers would have no trouble with Gaston. Then as has happened so many times during the season, the Cavaliers grew cold, Gaston quickly took the lead and went into the dressing room, at the half, leading 27- 21. Falling behind by as much as nine points it looked as though Montreat would go down to their ninth straight defesU Not giving up, the Cavaliers fought their wa^^ back and with just under six minutes left to play, Linwood Orenduff sank two free thrcr/js to tie the score at U8-all, a.
