"The policies of tomorrow need not be limited
by the policies of yesterday." This is part
of the presidential platform of Hubert H.
Humphrey. He has stated on many occasions
that he would not serve as head of a failing
administration. The Vice-President's idea
concerning the next four years are his own.
Some have called his fresh approaches to
problems "unqualified" and "rash."
Humphrey's policies are fresh but no reckless.
New action is needed in the many stalemate
situations confronting our nation.
A great multitude do not look any deeper
than bold face news headings regarding the
issues and proposals of the Vice-President.
Examine his platform and learn why you
should support the best man - Hubert H.
Humphrey.

MAN’S
VIEWS
Paul Little's duties as Director of Evangelism
for the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship
have taken him to college campuses in every
state but Alaska. Friday morning, September
27, he spoke in Gaither Chapel.
Unfortunately, he didn't have much time.
When asked how he liked Montreat, Little
commented "It has a great pine scent.
The trees are lovely. I've only been here
an hour. " Twenty minutes after speaking^
he was off to the airport, catching a flight
to Chicago.
However, this reporter was lucky enough
to talk with him in Dr. Thielman's office

candidates is likely to be a Savior. Today's
problems, at home and abroad, are not the
kind to be solved by easy or rapid solutions.
Nixon, the Republican candidate, realizes
this and refuses "to promise the millenium in
the morning." But he does represent a fresh
approach in the national effort to secure
"peace, justice and progress." We need this
kind of change. We cannot long endure
the perpetuation of old policies. For these
reasons, Nixon "excites my loyalty but not
my passion." The charisma is lacking but
an articulate defender of the Christian faith,
He has to be. Fbul Little is used to facing
Fraternity groups who ask questions like
"what's wrong with pre-marital sex?" or
why shouldn't I get drunk?"
"There are three areas of information a
Christian should concern himself with,"
Little stated. These, he believes, are
parts of an effective Christian witness for
college students. They are I- a clear grasp
of the Christian message itself 2-a clear idea
of how to bring Christianity into conversation

WALLACE Richard Fbst
In spite of the hatred so freely spewed at
George Wallace, his popularity grows.
Instinctively, the people support George
Wallace because he offers them not only
fair, honest, intelligent leadership, but a
candidate who will represent all the people,
not only the small minority.
to answer questions concerning the Christian
message for our times.
Author of "Know Why You Believe" and
"How To Give Your Faith Away, " Little
was able to cope with questions on today's
popular philosophy for life, existentialism.
He said, "I think the movement gained
popularity because of the despair coming
out of World War I. The existentialist
George Wallace is the only major presidential tries to give meaning to individual life. If
candidate who offers to the voters of this
nation a real choice between a people's
democracy and a government run by a half
dozen high ranking political figures.
He states also that people on the local
scene have the ability, the morality, and the
intelligence to decide the policies of their
own domestic institutions better than the
Federal Government.

there is no God, I think I would be an
existentialist."
Existentialism has currency, according
to Paul Little, because it deals with what
is possibly today's major problem, finding
meaning in life. Little feels unless
Christians communicate their good works,
people won't recognize them or accept
their beliefs either. Paul Little is one of
the best advocates Christianity has.

MONTREAT CAMPUS BEHIND POST OFFICE
ERASMUS
If a student opinion poll were to be taken
in order to determine the most popular new
arrival on the Montreat campus, there is
little doubt that Herron Von Saliant would
emerge as victor.
This personable fellow, who is commonly
known as Erasmus, is a winsome St. Bernard
presented to the students of Montreat by the
Billy Grahams.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland on May 27,
1967, Erasmus has an extremely impressive
family history. His father succeeded in
rescuing seven persons from snow avalanches.
This feat alone is notable enough to entitle
Erasmus to a prestigious position in dog
society, but there is more. His distinguished
grandfather held the honorable title of
Grand Champion of Europe.
The Grahams dubbed Herron Von Saliant
Erasmus after an early Dutch humanist for,
as Mrs. Graham expresses it, "Erasmus is a
humanist, too - he worships people."
His worship of people - lots of them - led
Erasmus and the Grahams to the conclusion
that MAC was the ideal home for him.
