7HB CMUBK VOL. 1 No. 4 OCTOBER 18. 1968 MOIMTREAT-ANDERSOIM COLLEGE COMING EVENTS ABC Newsman, Peter Jennings, here October 18th With the coming of the ACU-I Region V Conference (Association of College Unions - International) October 10-12 and Long Weekend October 18, Montreat Anderson activities are action packed. Thursday night through Saturday night, we have the honor of being entertained by Donnery and Rudd. This is one folk performance 'that is certain to be enjoyed by all. The folk festivities are being sponsored for us by Fellowship Hall. Not only will we have the opportunity of hearing Donnery and Rudd, we will also be able to talk and work with the duo at afternoon workshops. €3- title "The Zoo Story." Jerry is played by Robert Griffin, a graduate instructor at Illinois State University. In the play, Jerry is an urban misfit. He is a person without love, searching for a friend. Don't miss this fabulous play. For those of you who remember David, Della Rosa and Brooks, Hod David will be returning to our campus for a performance Monday,October 14,before the Symbols. A little bit of Britain will enter Montreat as the top pop classical band,The Symbols, entertains young and old alike, Monday night, October 14. Peter Jennings, ABC News correspondent, is to be a speaker on campus October 18. His subject title is "Fblitics '68, The Candidates and Issues." He is of world-wide renown and his informal viewpoints should provide us with an excellent opportunity to learn about world affairs. He is sponsored by Frank Boseman of the CUAB. Folk music, blues, gospel, Vlave songs, hoedowns are all a part of the Appalachian Mountain Festival coming October 26. Jean Ritchie, Bessie Jones, Babe Stoval, Michael Cooney, and the New Lost City Ramblers are just a few performers from the festival. This song fest from the Southern Black Belt is sponsored by McMillan. Don't forget to make these dates on your calendar and keep watching for further events. Our movie weekend feature for October II and 12 is "Bus Riley's Back In Town" by United Artists. Shows begin at 7 and 9 PM on Friday and Saturday nights. "The Zoo Story, " a tragic comedy written by Edward Albee, will be the night's entertainment for Sunday, October 13. The play to be presented by the Center House Theatre, deals with man's "alienation from his fellowman." Peter, played by Allen Tangrat, a senior at Moorehead State University in Kentucky, is a stereotyped father trying to find a friend. Sharing the household with the family are several animals. Hence the INTRAMURALS The Men's Intramural Association met October 6 with Mr. Walter Hughes to discuss plans for the upcoming year. Each dorm sent two representatives. These were: Roy Tyner and Mark Hollars from McMillan, Bob Howard and Toby Duke from Howerton, and Austin Brady qnd Sid Collins from New Hall. The first matter of business was to elect MIA officers. Those present chose Austin Brady as president. Bob Howard, vice- president, Sid Collins as secretary, and Toby Duke as treasurer. Intramural teams will battle in tag football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Individual sports planned are tennis, wrestling, handball, and pingpong, Tag football season is underway October 10. A complete schedule has been made. Pigskin activity ends with the annual "Rose Bowl" on Thanksgiving Day. Boys on athletic scholarships are not allowed to participate in sports where there is a danger of injury according to Mr. Jim Halstead, basketball coach.
