MUSIC
by T. C. Behrens
A couple of weeks ago, while the
ACU-I Region V conference held
ifs meefings at Montreat, Hod David
returned to present a refreshing new
Idea in modern music.
"The idea for th's concert, " stated
Hod, "all started ‘n Bunk Spann's
living room last year." Ever since last
spring. Hod has been working on his
dea. His theory blossomed to reality,
and he hopes to spread his basic ideas
across the nation on college campuses.
He wanted the performer and the audience
to reach a common plane of communication.
He achieved this by singing impressionistic
songs, which played on the strings of the
audience's emotions. He also used,
throughout the entire program, staging
directions and lights, to enhance the mood
he created in each song. For a long while,
I forgot about my surroundings and lost
myself in the meaning of the music.
Hod David proved his theory that seeded
in mankind are love, truth, beauty,
and real Ity ready to grow, mature, and be
reaped.

PT-109 (Technicolor)
Cliff Robertson, Ty Hardin, James Gregory, Robert
Culp
The story of John F. Kennedy’s heroism during World War II
is told in an exciting film biography of an embryo giant at
war, photographed in technicolor. There is humor as well
as drama in the picturization of naval combat in the Pacific
and of life aboard the battle-scarred PT-109 commanded by
Lieutenant (j.g.) Kennedy. The magnificent bravery and
remarkable leadership of the young officer when his ship
is torpedoed is a stirring profile in courage of a man who
went beyond his duty as a leader physically and morally in
his stubborn dedication to his men's survival.

Well, here we are again, reviewing
our weekly condemned movie. "Barbarella "
Is a revealing space and science-fiction
epic. Barbarella, played by Jane Fonda,
is the product of a peaceful society In
which all sexual relations as we know them
have become obsolete. The adventures
of Barbarella and the angel Pagar show
these two as the ultimate good. Their
antagonist, representing the ultimate bad,
is a wicked queen. This film seems to be
a little more than a display of Jane Fonda's
ample physical attributes. It is only worth
seeing if you I'ke a m'xture of skin and
science fiction.
The weekend's viewing was not a total
loss. George Peppard and Mary Tyler
Moore team together in a delightful comedy,
"What's So Bad About Feeling Good?"
The fun-filled movie deals with what
happens when a hallucinatory drug is
released ’n New York. It creates a virus,
different from most others in effect.
Everyone turns friendly and honest. Think
If you can what a friendly New York would
be like.

BOOK
O O
by Sue E. WhHener
Originality in any form is a rarity
in the popular novels of our time; therefore,
any fresh approach which an author may
dream up is likely to be a hit with the
American public. For this reason, a book
such as Gore Vidal's "Myra Breckinridge"
can, and did, become a number one
nationwide bestseller.
"Myra Breckinridge" is the most
unconventional character to come along In
fiction in years. Her story has never
been told before in a novel of such
proportions - a shocking, outrageous
story so hilarious in parts that one can
not help but laugh. She, "whom no man
^ can possess," has uncommon views on life,
to say the least. Myra Is out to prove her
worth - to prove that she Is far superior
to any man. She believes that her
mission is to save the World from itself.
Throughout the book Myra conducts a
futile campaign to change the ways of her
fellow man (Yes, that's what I said -
man), but the only significant change
is In Myra herself (or himself).
Unlike most of Gore Vidal's previous
works,"Myra Breckinridge" never becomes
stale, Vidal meant for this book to shock,
but he also Intended for it to capture the
total attention of the reader, and he met
with astounding success.
Many opinions have been vo'ced
on "Myra Breckinridge", but one point
is clear to both her admirers and her
critics — she Is a character who will not
soon be forgotten.

In spite of twice losing to the top
teams In its conference, the Montreat
Anderson College soccer team continues
to show immense progress as a result of
its playing as a unit.
In leading King College one to
nothing at half time, the determined
Cavaliers demonstrated beyond a doubt
that they have the capacity to play
winning soccer. During the second half
of that match. Montreat continued to
play well, but the team was unable to
subdue a more experienced King College
comb’nation.
Our team traveled to Warren Wilson
for Its most recent contest. Warren
Wilson, like King College, has a lot
of experience and plenty of talent.
Montreat-Anderson set up a sturdy
defense and had numerous scoring
opportunities. But a stingy Warren
Wilson back field would not allow
them to capitalize on these chances.
The team has four more games scheduled,
Next opponent is Brevard on Thursday,
October 31 at home.
