Editorial
We at Montreat-Anderaon College
are fortunate to have a workable
and effeotive student goverment.
This student govermant associa
tion has shown itself to be
worthy of the respect and co-op
eration that has been given to it
by the student bod^ of MAO so far
this school year. During the span
of last semester, several impor
tant proposals wepe considered
and worked on by the SGA officers
and representatives with the co
operation of the faculty and ad-
ainistration.
Early last semester, it was
discovered that the new constitu
tion contained an error which se
verely handicapped the function
ing of the Honor Oourtj this mat
ter was brought before the SuA, a
proposed amendment was submitted
and endorsed, and the amendment
to the constitution was presented
to the student body in a referen
dum vote, where it was overwbel*'-
ingly accepted. Tye Honor Court
is now able to ir,iplement a more
indivilized penalty system.
One important issue which was
brought to the attention of the
Legislature was the reque'^t for
a change in the curfew hours for
freshmen w omen. The S3A unani
mously endorsed this request, and
sent a specific proposal to the
administration, giving freshmen
woman the same curfew hours as
sophomore women.
The SGA sponsored a project
which provided Thanksgiving cas
kets for several needy families
in the Black Mountain community,
and has also provided a group of
about 20 HAS students to go to
the Mills Creek Baptist Church of
Black Mountain for weekly tutor
ing sessions with many of the
area school children who need
outside help with their school-
work.
The Student Legislature also
conveyed in November a request to
the. Dean of Students which con
cerned the lengthening of the
I hanksgivlng holiday. This re
quest was discussed by the admin
istration, who granted the re
quest for an extension of the
Thanksgiving holiday.
Seveial otner changes have
been put into action by the Stu
dent Govsrment Association, such
as the change in the library
hours on Saturdays from morning
hours to afternoon hours. The
Legislature has also sponsored
several receptions, for new stu
dents and for leading members of
the SGA; if you have any sugges —■
tions for changes and improvements
in the present system, notify
your representatives and SGA of
ficers of these thoughts.

DEVOTION
OF TIME
Students are needed on Friday
afternoons to go to the Juvenile
Evaluation Center. The young
people at the center are in need
of love and personal attention;!!
anyone at MAC has at least one
Friday afternoon free, it would
be a rewarding experience to go
to the Center to talk with these
teenagers, play basketball with
them, or do anything with them
that will show them that somebody
really does care. If you are in
terested, please contact Wesley
Horne for transportation.

Memories and Promises
When we returned to Montreat
after our Christmas vacation, we
were saddened to hear of Mom
Sterne's sudden death during the
holidays. We will al\jays appre
ciate the dedication and devotion
which she always showed to her
MA-Hall "daughters", and she will
always hold a special place in
our hearts.
We want to thank Miss Wilson
for taking on such a large re
sponsibility as dorm mother of
170 girls this semester. By pre
viously being Dean of Students,
and presently a Bible teacher
here at Montreat, Miss Wilson is
very capable of assisting us not
only with our academic problems,
but also with our personal prob
lems. Mom Wilson said she likes
young people and is enjoying
being our housemother. We are
very lucky to have this vjonderful
Christian lady as our "Mom". We
love you, Mom Wilson welcome to
