It is my hope that all of us will be completely open and candid and that we may not be aloof and mysterious but let us be Christians in our words and actions. We are glad you came to M-AC this fall. Some of you will be graduating within a few days, others may not be returning next month but I hope that we have made some impact upon your life and that you will be a better person ' for having been a part of the college community for this per iod of time. He has his doctorate in education administration as well as ser ving as Department Chairman of Health and Administration at a community college prior to his coming to Montreat, Mrs, Phyllis Collins, his wife, is'presently working as a secretary to Dean Standley. She was a main factor in Ray's education. She worked to sup port them and helped Ray -dur ing his eight years of college with his homework. You may have seen her in other places .than the Dean's office such as McAllister gym, where she jogs during her lunch break each day. Both Coach and Mrs. Collins have interesting hobbles; Mrs, Collins likes to paint and Coach Collins enjoys archery and tennis. Dr. Collins came to Mon - treat just this fall. He said that he applied at several colleges where there were openings and decided on Mon- treat. Although they've only been at Montreat a short while, Phyllis and Ray are leaving. Dr. Collins said, "We regret leaving Montreat and enjoyed living here in the mountains, but again, I feel it was too much of an opportunity' and challenge to pass up. The reporter was grateful to Phyllis and Ray because without them he wouldn't have a feature article I f/UL f993 r, COME ALIVE.' The movie "Flap," starring Anthony Ouinn, will begin next semester's student activities on January 12. There is room for some im provement in the area of Stu dent Activities and the people responsible for this are eager to obtain the student input and support that can bring about some changes. The Student Union has been the object of some controversy as efforts have been made to establish it as a gathering place for our students. The Student Activities committee will accept opinions on the role of the Student Center in campus living and will try to provide an atmosphere in keep ing with that role. Suggestions for activities during the next semester and following ones are also en couraged. Ideas, about musical groups, parties, outings or get-togethers should be dis cussed with Robert Jones or members of the Student Activi ties committee. These members are: Robin Denny, chairman: Cliff Bickers, Syl Dozier,Pam Fountain, Franklin Graham, Debbi Hood, Craig Janis, Susan McIntosh, Rich Rankin, and Natalie Wann. On Wednesday, December 20, the last meal, breakfast, will be provided. All dorms close at 11 A.M. Sunday, January 7, marks the return-date in 1973. Dorms will open at 2 P.M., dinner being served from 5-6 P.M. New hours for mall pick-up are Sunday from 7-9 P.M. notices will be posted at all central bulletin boards as to when copies of the next edition will be distributed. The student newspaper is published free of charge for all Montreat - Anderson students. A semester-long subscription program will be made a- vallable to parents and to members of our community.
