Students Sing for Christ
"The General Assembly" is a
twe1ve-member singing group spon
sored by the Hontreat-Anderson
College. The group's name is ta
ken foom the name of the govern
ing body of thePresbyterian Church;
it is also meaningful because the
members of "The General Assembly"
come from so many places.
The members singing soprano
include Ann Giampocaro, Vandy Ro
me in, and Mary Jane Freeman. Ann
is from Bluefield, West Virginia;
Vandy came to Montreat from Due
V/est, South Carolina; and Mary
Jane lives in Fairmont.North Car
olina. The alto section includes
Kathy V/ilds from Rome, Georgia,
Debbie Goode from Tryon, North
Carolina, and Pam Eastridge is
from Charlotte, North Carolina.
Singing tenor are Curt Hursey
and Mike Mitchell; Curt is from
Dublin, North Carolina and Mike
lives in Fayetteviile. North Car
olina. The bass parts are sung
by Jeff Bourne from Atlanta.Geor
gia; Jim Wood from Hontreat; and
Wesley Horne from \/i Imington.North
Carolina.
Two recent additions have been
made to "The General Assembly".
Christine Koblegard, from Fort
Pierce, Florida, plays the flute.
Natalie Wann, from Baltimore,
Maryland, accompanies the group
with her guitar.
Curt Hursey, as leader of the
"quartet", calls practices quite
frequently,but they all feel that
the hard work has paid off. So
far this year,"The General Assem
bly" has had weekend engagements
in Charlotte, North Carolina and
Rome, Georgia.They have performed
several places representing Mon-
treat-Anderson College in song,
including churches, civic groups
and clubs in Ashevi11e.Waynesvi11e
and Black Mountain. Tentative
engagements for the remainder of
the semester include programs in
North Carolina, Georgia, Tennes
see, Mary1 and.Washington and West
Virglnia.

Jesus-Rock Group
The popular, 12-member rook
group, "The Sons of Thunder",
will perform a two-hour Jestis-
rook and light show oonoert Tues
day ni^t, February 27th, from
8;OO-1Ot0O p.m. in Gaither Chapel,
Havirwr played at VPI, Prinoeton,
University, Chapel Hill, Lynoh-
burg, the Naval Aoademy, William
and Mary, Averett, Madison Col
lege and UNC in Greensboro, this
rook group from Bethesda, Mary
land is notioed to be in great
demand. Their album, "Day Follows
Night", is also quite popular,
"The Sons of Thunder" will tra
vel to Prinoeton the day after
they play here and later on will
move on to Galledet College."The
Sons of Thunder" have always been
sponsored by Campus Crusade, the
Navigators, or Intervaraity, all
three well-known Chris tia.. assoc
iations. The group has been and
is given high recommendation from

Montreat
The Mu Lambda chapter of Phi
Theta Kappa is sponsoring a Fine
Arts Festival to be held March
27-29 here at Montreat. The pur
pose of this festival is to
encourage a creative spirit in
Montreat students. The festival
will display almost any exhibit
under the categories of art, lit
erature, photography, and music.
Each entry will bo judged and
cash prizes will be given for 1st
and 2nd place entries in each
category. Group projects from the
various clubs and org;anizations
on campus are welcome, but will
not be judged. More detailed in
formation about the festival will
be available soon.
We hope that many students
will take advantage of this cp-
portunity to display their cre
ative efforts, John Furman has
informed us that nobody need
enter the group participation cat
egory since the pep band has it
.ai wrapped up! How about'the
rest of the clubs accepting John
Furman's challenge? Anyone iriio
feels that he has even the least
bit of artistic talent should be
involved in this event.
