The SGA has been working stead ily with the Office in establish ing the process for chartering student clubs and organizations. Since that time several clubs have written and submitted their chartering proposals; and the SGA, the Director of Student Development have reviewed and made chartering recommendations which will be presented Monday to the Administrative Committee for fi nal approval. In addition, the SGA Budget Committee. under the direction of Fran Cooper, has been laboring hard and steady in informing and assisting the same clubs with the Student /activities Budget process. Many clubs have submitted budget proposals which the committee will present to the SGA Thursday even ing for approval. The SGA Student Handbook Com- mittee, under the direction of Ed Moore,is in the process of col lecting and evaluating various publications and information which will be used in updating our Stud ent Handbook. The SGA Food Committee (Libby Abernathy and Company) hTs been most effective in promoting an Italian Dinner and the Valentine Dinner including various decora tions and food items. This com mittee is working on a number of other proposals which will be beneficial to the student body. Congratulations are in order to Mr. Coke Fowler on being se lected and honored recently by the Black Mountain Rotary Club for the Student of the Month in January. This Office would like to en courage the student body to firm ly stand behind your Student Gov ernment Association. Make your wants and desires, your opinions, and your constructive criticisms known to your officers and repre sentatives of the SGA. It is your government, and its degree of suc cess depends on you. The editors of the Lookout would 1 ike to apologize for the sparseness of this issue of the newspaper. The fears and appre- hensians of all journalists were realized in this publication: several important, leading news assignments were not carried through by members of the Lookout .staff, and others were mislaid in the transition from reporter to typist, including the sports write-up on th> basketball games and tournament. Publishing a newspaper involves many joys, but also some headaches. It appears we got an Excedrin headache with this issue, but we promise it will not develope into a migrainl The Lookout staff promises a big and pleasant surprize with its next edition in two weeks- Debbi Hood Compliments! Montreat is made up of people- rather special people, we think.' For this reason and because next year's Freshman class looks do good, we are quite optimistic about the future of our college. So many times you have helped us in recruiting, sometimes with a smile of encouragement but even more with extra efforts of writ ing a letter, making a phone call a visit, and taking time to reco mmend someone whom you think would enjoy and add to the Mon treat spirit. Please know that we are most appreciative of you and alj. your efforts. Thank you.' Many visitors have commented on your warmth, friendliness, and helpfulness.' It is with pride that we introduce campus visitors to you and to Montreat. If you have names in mind that you would like us to follow up by mail, phone, or visits, you will have the opportunity to suggest through our office or through Wes Horne or Ed moore.
