Page 7 it- i i SEATON AND TEAM LOOK TOWARD CONFERENCE TOURNEY First looks are often deceiving and one could not find a better ex ample of this adage than the record of Montreat-Anderson’s basketball team. Although the record of our Cavaliers shows 3 wins against 14 losses, it fails to reveal the desire and determination displayed by the team. Coach Seaton maintains that this year’s team is one we can be proud of. Though lacking experience, the team has not let up all year long, giving 100% every time they’re on the court. Coach Seaton does sight the need for a big man: “We have fine out side shooting but we have a hard time fighting on the boards. For example, Stewart or Fairfax will lob in a 20-footer, then the other much taller team will feed into their big man for a 3-footer. The other team continues shooting the high percentage shot. Finally the law of averages catches up with us. In one stretch of five games we were shooting well over 50%, yet we lost each of the games because we didn’t have the big men in side.” Next year the coach will be look ing for a big man. Besides the post position, the coach feels very con fident: “Most of the team will be back. Rookard, Stewart, and Hood have gained much needed experi ence. The team will lose Mac Hest er, Don Blanton, and Allen Fair fax. “I observed a tremendous change in Allen this year. He went from a mediocre player to an outstand ing one by sheer hustle. Most of the big fom- year schools in the area are recruiting him. He’ll be a good one.” As the season draws to an end Coach Seaton and the team look with anxiousness towards the Con ference Tourney.
