» • e Page Photo of the Week M This year Montreat-Anderson College has been blessed with ten new faculty members. It’s our prayer that both the new and returning students will really make an effort to get to know each new faculty member on a person- to-person basis. We thou^ that you may want to know who these people are and a little about each d them. John Fnrman- John is working in the Bible department and is also in charge of the tutoring department He graduated from Clemson University in 1975. He continued his education at Covenant seminary for One semester and then received his Masters from St Louis University in 1979. He and his wife, Martha, moved from St Louis to Montreat this August Martha Furman- Martha is teaching the Marriage and Family course here at Mon treat She is also acting as mother to the 38 Groseclose women. Martha is a graduate of aemson University. She received her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Covenant Seminary in 1979. Bobbie Moffitt- Bobbie joined us here at M-AC this fall as the Assistant Head Resident of MA Hall and also as director of the Genral Assembly. She has a BJS. in ecreation wiffi concentration in Outdoor En vironmental Educaticm. She loves square dancing, music, back packing, hiking, people and Jesus. Bob Fortosls- Bob joined the Montreat faculty this fall as the soccer coach and also as the Head Resident of Howerton HalL He will also be working in the tutoring depart ment. Bob has spent one year at Capenwray in England. Mr. Young has joined our faculty as our Phoh^rap^ teadier. He has a B. A. in Chemistry from Berea College. He has also studied at Western Carolina University and has certificate of photography from the UJS. Navd School Mr. Young taught Chemistry here from 1972 - 75. He now has a photography studio in Black Mountain idiere be works full time. Jan Gillean- Jan is our new Head Resident for the McGregor HaH She will also be coaching our great women’s basketball team. She graduated from UNC-G with a B.. S. in Physical Eihication. She has been teaching Physical Education in Atlanta,Georgia for the last two years. In the summers she wtxks with the hiking program at Rock- brook Camp in Brevard. Robert Keener- Dr. Keener is the Chariman of the Fine Arts Division at Warroi Wils(Hi Cdlege wd this year will be excellent year under his leader ship. the director of the M-AC Concert Choir. He has a B. S. in Music Education from MiUlkin University, an M. S. from University d Illinois and a 06M! . from the University of Cdorado.' He will be returning as Professor of Rng»«i) after being on leave of absent for a year. During this leave be has been woridng toward.hls Ph. D. at UNOG. We are happy to have Mr. King back with us again. Above all, we would like to ex- luress our excitement in having Mr. David Parks as our new Dean of the College. Mr. Parks has been Professor d Bible since 1974 at M- AC. The students were really this summer to bear that Mr. Parks would be assuming the dufie* of Dean of the College. We are sore that the faculty, staff and students will really suppwt Mr. Parks this year as tiiVim on this important positioo of leadership. Jim Sdkaef Coach has joined us this year as the Athletic Direchff, head Basketball Coach, and Chairman of the Physical Education department. He attended Barrington C(dlege in Rhode Island wImm be received a Major in Physical Education and a Minor in Science. He then went to Northern Illinois University where he received a Master’s degree in Physical Education in 1977. When STikaai visited Montreat last May, he was very impressed with the people and the area. He saw Montreat as a real challenge with goals which could even tually be attained with great success. He is really loKii^ I forward to a great Physical Education department this year. Dr. Anthony- Dr. Anth^ is teaching History during the fidl semester while Dr. Carwford is (xi leave to teach in a seminary in Zaire. ’-Dt. Anthony has a B. A. degree and a M. A. degree from Stanford University and a Ph. D. from Gewge Washington University. He has served for twenty-^our years as a Fordgn Service Officer with the by Jeanne Alllman U.S. information Serivce, Bfark Weidmaier- . Mr. Weidemaier is our new Head Baseball Coach and is also the Head Resident of Davis Hall and will be tutoring this year. He has. a M. A. in Physical Education with emphasis in Sports Administration (from Ohio State University. He ' also has a B.A. in Joumali^ and 'English from Union University. Mr. Weidemaier served as Graduate Assistant Baseball Coach vdiile in graduate school at Ohio State. We welcome these ten new faculty members and are lool^ forward to a great year with them.
