By Kim Knight As a part of our new student col umn, we asked several Freshmen, "Why they picked Montreat- Anderson College, and how did they like it so far?” Helen Meek — i came to Montreat because I was interested in attending a small Christian school. Monteat was highly recommended by several people I respect. I really enjoy the closeness with the other students and faculty. I'm glad I came and con sider it one of the wisest decisions the Lord and I have ever made. Mark Ownbey — I picked Montreat because I like the Christian at mosphere, and the scenery around this area. So far it has been really great. Dwayne Maddox — I picked Montreat-Anderson College because of the many opportunities it has for me. I’m going after my Bachelor in Arts Degree and Montreat can give me. this chance. Montreat has already been a good experience, and I enjoy it here. Janet Shockey — I chose Montreat as the college I wanted to attend because of the importance placed on Christ. I was seeking to grow in my relationship with my Savior. The mountains surrounding Montreat are one of the many things that show God’s love for me. I’ve found since I’ve been here the genuine love of Christian friends. 1 am growing not only with my relationship with the Lord, but with friendships with fellovy brothers and sisters. If I described Montreat in one word, it would be "great.” Tony Marley — Montreat has the kind of atmosphere that a person needs to grow and mature, spiritually and physically. The people here are friendly and the relationship between God and the students is great. These past few weeks have show me these things, and I hope the rest of my stay is as pleasant. Cindy Wilhelm — The reason for my attending Montreat is because of the Christian atmosphere, and all the love and warmth that it holds. So far I love it here. Mike Yarbrough — I chose to come to Montreat because I wanted a college centered around the love of Christ. I felt a great need to be around Chris tian friends to help me to grow spiritually. 1 also liked the college because of its size. It is much easier to become involved and take part in activities. I was also attracted to Montreat because of its natural beau ty. So far I really love Montreat. I feel that it is where I belong. Jeff Zimmerman — I came to Mon treat for several specific reasons. My oldest brother is an alumni, and he really recommended the school highly. During the consideration of which college to attend, I heard Mon treat had a good baseball program, which is highly suitable for a junior college. My stay at Montreat has been rather quiet. The study hours, I think, are terrific. These hours give you a great opportunity to stay on top of things. There could be more social events going on around campus, and could be more organized in that aspect. To achieve this, everyone needs to participate. Richey Dunn — Montreat-Anderson, I came because it was small, co-ed, have found, is kinda a close-knit fami- and located in the mountains, ly. Everyone cares about you and at Something I missed in Virginia! no time are you completely lost.
