Among the new faces clamoring
around the Montreat-Anderson campus
are mingled a few very special people
These are the new faculty members.
In the field of history and political
science, we greet Dr. Bill Anthony. Mr.
Anthony taught two courses in
Montreat's summer session to warm up
for this year. He received his PhD from
George Washington University and spent
a few years as a Foreign Service
Officer.
Mr. Rick Lindsey, who recently
completed his master 's, in
mathematics at Appalachian State
University and holds a B.A in computer
science, fills the slot for our new
professor of computer science. Mr.
Lindsey and his wife. Jinny, reside in
Boone, NC. He also intends to work on
his master's in .computer science next
spring.
Mrs. Lynn Luckadoo steps in as our
new professor of mathematics with
possible assistance in computer
science. Mrs. Luckadoo holds a B.S. in
mathematics and a M.A. in mathematics
education from Western Carolina
University. She taught computer
programming at Asheville Buncombe
Technical school since 1981 and
presently resides in Arden with her
husband, David, and their five children.
Next, I introduce Mr. Randy Unger who
takes the position of athletic director,
in addition to varsity basketball coach,
and recruiter for admissions. He comes
to us from Huntington College of
Indiana with his wife, Luanne, and three
young children. He graduated from
Taylor University and Georgia Southern
University.
Ms. Lou Johnson takes active duty as
Resident Director of McGregor Hall,
tutor, and women's softball coach. She
is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and
comes to us with a B.A in physical
education and several summer's
experience in camp leadership.
Mr. Mark Robinson becomes the
Resident Director of Howerton Hall and
assistant manager of the Belk Campus
Center. He holds a master's degree
from Western Kentucky University and
previously worked for Ben Lippen
School.
Mr. Robert B. Dobson and Mr. Reid M.
Estus contribute their abilities in the
admissions office as counselors. Mr.
Dobson holds a B.S. in political science
with public management from
Appalachian State University. Mr. Estus
holds an associate degree from
Montreat and a B.A. from Covenant
College in physical education with a
minor in education.
The new face in the library is Lynn
Holman. As a technical assistant, Lynn
holds a master's degree from St.
Frances College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She resides in Black Mountain and is
active in the First Presbyterian Church
and the Presbyterian Home for Children.
Also, we welcome Theresa Price who
replaced Margo Davis as summer
housing coordinator this summer and is
now an assistant in the business office.
We join Mr. Ed Carwithen in
welcoming back Sue Carwithen, who
went to Hialeah, Florida last year to
care for her mother. She replaces
Martha Moore in the financial aid office
this year.
And last but not least, we welcome
Mr. Joseph Wolstencroft as the new
assistant to the president. He will
direct the establishment of the
four-year program and teach Bible
courses next semester. He holds a B.A.
from Covenant College, a master's in
Christian education from Reformed
Theological Seminary and a master's of
divinity from Westminister Theological
Seminary.
I sincerely hope these new faces will
become old friends as the year
progresses. And 1 warmly welcome all
the new kids on the block. So, students,
if you ever pass by a window and see
one of the new kids with his nose
pressed against the glass, then just
say to him, "Hey, wanna come out and
play?"
