VOLUME 10, NUMBER 4 Montreat-Anderson College
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
SINGERS ON SPRING FLING
by Janet Grogan
Viewing this zany title, let us not
be misled The G.A.'s simply went on
their Spring Tour. Traveling from here
in Montreat through to Florida, the
G.A.'s covered 2500 miles and did
approximately twelve concerts. While
most Montreat students were whittling
away the hours in bed, in front of the.
television, or lying on the beach, the
G.A.'s were singing in different
churches, sleeping in different homes,
and eating all sorts of food.
The G.A.'s started off in Seneca, SC
with a Sunday morning concert. Then
moved on to Atlanta, GA Sunday night.
Early Monday morning, we pulled out to
go on to Gainsville, FL where we stayed
in lovely hospitable homes and met
many delightful people (as with every
place we went).
Then the next day we were lucky
enough to move on with baited breath to
Ft Lauderdale, FL where we sang for a
youth group and a Christian school. The
next day was a long haul to reach
Bradenton, FL Not only did we do
concerts there but we also enjoyed
things like swimming, boating, and
having some free time. After singing in
the neighboring city of Sarasota, FL, we
moved on to Stone Mountain, GA and
finally on Sunday back to Montreat.
Throughout the tour we said many
tearful goodbyes, many "thankyou
Lord's,” and only a few wishes to go
home. The people everywhere were
warm and receptive, opening their
churches and their homes to the G.A.'s.
Yet now,It is back to the old grind,
where the fun-filled tour seems only
happy memories.
It just goes to show that serving
the Lord gives not only blessings to
others, but brings a precious gift to
ones' self.

The SC A has had a busy year so far,-
and the coming of Spring insures things
will stay that way. There are several
events coming up that offer fun and
fellowship to the students.
Friday night, March 20, a
fellowship night will be held in the
Belk Campus Center. There will be
games and refreshments and later on
the movie “Chariots of Fire" will be
shown in Gaither, In addition, Steve
Varro, a Christian illusionist, will be
at M-AC April 3-5. His "slight of hand"
presentations promise to be exciting as
do his illustrations and parallels to the
Christian life.
As always, Vespers will be held
each Sunday night. Two of the future
speakers this semester will be Coach
Patsy Neal, and Pastor Alan Bragwell of
Christ Fellowship in Asheville. Jimmy
Smith, Vespers co-orldinator, hopes to
set up another panel discussion as well.
Many students expressed that
February's discussion on relationships
was both interesting and helpful.
The ministries of the SCA have
really been reaching out to help others.
At least two teenagers at the Juvenile
Center have recently met and accepted
Jesus Christ as their Savior, as well as
a woman at the Dogwood Manor nursing
home. These groups of students have
been blessed as well as learning and
enjoying their time in these programs.
For those interested, the van for the
JEC leaves Thursday night from the
cafeteria parking lot at about 5:30. The
group going to Dogwood Manor leaves
about 1:00 on Saturday afternoons. For
more Information, speak to Kaye Wilks.
Remember that the first Sunday in
April will be the next Concert of
Prayer. I can testify that the last one
was a special time of fellowship with
friends and with the Lord. I am
confident that great things happen
When the children of God unite to pray,
and these "concerts" have given me a
larger view of the world and all its
needs.
Missions has been the main focus
of much of the SCA this year. Many
students have been made more aware of
a world that is hurting and that needs
to be told of the love of Jesus Christ. A
big part of this realization has come
from the hard work and sincerity of
Missions Coordinator Scott Richardson.
"1 think Scott has done an excellent
job," Jimmy Smith, SCA vice-president
said. Taking a closer look at Missions
"has been one of the most Important
things we've done all year."
Jimmy added that he has enjoyed
his work with the SCA this year,
especially "talking with people one on
one." If any student' is considering an
SCA position for the 87-88 school year,
he asks you to do so prayerfully. These
are tough responsible jobs, but if you
love Christ and love to work with
people, they are also very rewarding.
