SPRING
ELECTIONS

It must have been close.
It had to have beeh close.
For the candidates of the spring
elections were all capable persons, all
reacning for an office In wntch they
would worthily represent their student
body. From the speecnes (and,
Incidentally, applause! applause! to
Flipper Hall and Jon Saunders for their
smooth and relaxed flow of words) it
was apparent that each cahdldate was
serious about his pr her endeavor, and
that each had a sincere desire to serve
Montreat-Anderson College. It was the
votes of the students, though, that
brought certain ones to office. The
results of the elections are simply as
follows:

R. A. RECOGNITION
After a fun-filled and action
packed year of sitting desk, locking-up,
calling down people for noise, enforcing
college regulations and other ''R.A. type"
duties, the M-AC Resident Assistants
were officially appreciated.
The 1986-87 Resident Assistants
were treated to a banquet on April
13th, to thank them for their hard work
this year. Dean McDowell, Dean Wilson,
Dean_ Cromartie, Mark Robinson, Lou
Johnson, Marcia Bronson, and Steve
Fredrickson were present to give their
insights of this years" dorm activities.
A new tradition was started this
year as ""R. A. of the Year"" Awards were
presented in each of the dorms. In
Davis Dorm, Tim Hill was selected. In
Howerton, Jim Pritchard was awarded.
McGregor presented Paula Johnson with
the award and M-A Hall recognized Lori
Reel as "'R. A. of the Year.""
Congratulations to these out
standing R. A."s Thanks for being there
for us this year! Thanks also to Todd
Cost, Greg Crouch, Willie Mangum,
Bryant McEntlre, Johnnie Gailes, Rob
Garrison, Scott Gosnell, James
Waldroupe, Alice Harding, Pris Maxwell,
Liz Merritt, Valerie Morgan, Phyllis
Nelms, Sherry Ramsey, Nan Weitzel,
Stefanle Wilkins, Kathy Fox, Wendy
Hart, Kim Hood, and Leslie Watson for
their hard work and dedication this
year in our ""homes-away-from home.""

FINE ARTS FESTIVAL RESULTS

This past weekend. Montreat
Anderson held It's annual Fine Arts
Festival. Held in the L Nelson Bell
Library, it was sponsored by Phi Theta
Kappa.
There were five different
categories contestants could enter but
only three out of the five categories
had enough entries to be Judged.
In the Drawing competition, 1st
place went to Ian McAlexander for ’Les
Mains"* as well as Honorable Mention for
"Dream Suite." 2nd place went to Lea
Christensen for "Virginia Dogwood."
In the painting competition,
Michelle Thomas won 1st and 2nd
places with "Smooth Sailing" and
"Summertime Seascape" respectively.
Honorable Mention went to Lea
Christensen for "Refreshed."
The Creative Writing competition
had a surprising 'amount of entries
consisting of both short stories and
poetry, ""The Protest"" by Beth McCoy
won 1st place. 2nd place went to Nancy
Nichols for a poem called "'Fate'" and
Honorable Mention went to James
Bowles for "A Memorable Flight."
First place winners of each
category will receive $20.00 and
second place winners will receive
$10.00.
Phi Theta Kappa would like to
congratulate all the entrants and
winners. They would also like to thank
and recognize all the work put Into the
Festival by their advisor, Mrs. Linda
Price.
