M-AC Students Start Year in White By HOWELL RUEHL On January 2, 1990 a group of M-AC students left for an adventure we would never forget. The following people went on the trip to Three Lakes, WI: Brad Daniel and Ken Lakin as leaders, Harrison Ryan, Laura Schulz, Terry Hedderick, Amy Adams, Matt Auten, Lori Bogges, Dee Dasburg, Tari Terrel, Howell Ruehl, LeAnn Beach, Tracy Morrison, Dottie Berry, and a friend of Ken's grandparents house in Indianapolis, IN. We stopped here for a hot breakfast at about 5:30 am. It was good to have a good hot meal in our stomachs. We then moved on to Chicago, II where we stopped at a Wendy’s going over the highway. When we had gotten to Wisconsin it had taken us a total of 24 hours to get from Montreat to Three Lakes, WI. That night we played a fierce game of Broom-Ball. Broom-Ball is a cross between soccer and hockey on ice, but we use a soccer ball and brooms. This was the game that we got most of our bruises from to begin the week. Our week consisted of getting up, eating breakfast, having bible study, doing an activity, eating supper, having bible study, doing an activity, then going to bed. Day one: We had our first lesson on of how to cross country ski. It sure was fun to see all the people fall only to get up and fall again. After an invigorating lesson of xc skiing we went horse back riding in the snow, which was a dream come true to some campers. We ended the day with a game of volleyball in a racquet ball court. Day two: This day was for xc skiing on a more difficult trail of hills and slopes. Some of us had trouble getting the hang of it. But it gave us a chance to see Go^s creation in an unspoiled way. After that we went horseback riding on a trail in the woods which gave us a chance to get to know our horses CONTINUED ON PAGE 5 Rap Concert Tonight Washington, D.C - DC TALK (de ce tok) 1. hip hip hop (see rap) 2. street music with a Gospel message 3. rap with a melody line and vocals (see cutting edge hip hop) 4. ministry to young people that is recognized by Dr. Jerry Falwell and Liberty University (see shattered stereotypes) 5. debut album released March 1989 (see ForeFront cassettes and CD’s) 6. debut appearance at Montreat-Anderson College (see Gaither Chapel at 7:30 on January 16th) A fresh new musical sound has come from the nation’s capital in the form of the rap group DC Talk.
