Sally, a staff member at
the shelter, summed up
the purpose of the shel
ter the best by stating:
"People deserve a
chance to better them
selves." The Shelter ac
complishes its goal
through the dedicated
work of caring people. It
was our honor to be a
part of it.
We take so many
things for granted; our
clothes, the food we eat,
the beds we sleep in, and
the opportunities that
we have. If you think
about all that God has
provided for you and
others here at Montreat,
you should not be able
to come up with a single
reason for not giving of
yourself. Isn't it time we
start doing things for
other people? The Lord
is our provider, and we.
following His example,
must be willing to pro
vide for others. Though
these programs are not
perfect, they do provide
you and me with an ex
cellent opportunity to
serve God by serving
others. After all Jesus
said, "What you have
done for the least of my
brethren you have done
unto Me."

Dear Editor,
We have a man
amongst us that few of
us know, and even fewer
can truly appreciate. The
man I speak of is an
Engineer, a Doctor of Di
vinity, and a pilot. He
has taught here for many
years, during which
time a great many people
have learned about the
Bible and Christian
Doctrine. He has also
proven a capable profes
sor of math. In all of
these areas of study he is
considered an excellent
teacher. We have heard
him speak in chapel and
vespers. He was a mis
sionary for some years
in the foreign nation of
Korea.
Dr. Parks, you are the
most unselfish man I
have ever met in my
entire life. I only wish
that I could live half the
life you have lived.
It might be considered
fitting that you retire
along with the coming
of the 75th anniversary
of our college. Each
person must move and
follow God's calling. We
will miss you sir. Those
who have sat in your
classes are a privileged
group. We thank-you
from the bottom of oxir
hearts. Enjoy your re
tirement and I pray that
God is with you in all
that you do.
In His Name,
Stephen Walker
