Sweat drips as they run and kick
on the field. No, not horses, they are the
Montreal soccer team!
Largely
composed of
freshmen, the
young team is led
by a new coach.
Steve Schutt has
replaced former
coach, Steve
Barrett, who is now living in Texas.
Barrett is currently teaching and coach
ing at Letoumeau University.
Schutt graduated from Liberty
University with a Bachelor's degree in
communications. He and his wife,
Karen, have been married a year. Schutt
Steven Schutt has already been
woridng since July as the new soccer
coachaiidadmiissionscounselor. Hecame
from a coaching position with Jefferson
Forest High School in Forest, VA.
Brad Daniel, David Parks, Wilma
Gray, and Hicks Anderson are not'
new, they are returnees to campus this
fall. Daruel returns to his former posi
tion in the Natural Science Division
after a year's leave of absence.. Parks
teaches one Bible course, since he has
agreed to help fill the void left by Ron
Bmnson. Gray teaches a sociology
course*. Anderson returned in July to
assist ih promoting gift annuities for
the college during the school year.
is an Admissions counselor for M-AC,
as well as soccer coach.
Although Schutt is a plus for the
soccer program,
the teams' great
est strength is
heart. Their de
termination led
them to their first
victory of the sea
son with a2rl tit)
umph against Brevard.
Leland Globke summed up the
teams' potential with this statement, 'T
thirik that if every player contributes
we shouldn't be disappointed at the end
of the season." M-AC's 1993 soccer
team is a good contender for the confer;
ence this year.
