Call It Censorship By David Caldwell President of M-AC’S (NCAE) Two weeks ago, the M-AC NCAE met for the first time to discuss the topic of sex education in a forum entitled, "Condoms in the Classroom?" The turn out was fair for such a small organization and I want to give my thanks to those responsible for making the meeting a success. I am referring to the party, or parties, who, due to the controversial nature of the discussion, followed behind me to tear down the announcements I put on the bulletin boards across campus. Oh sure, my first reaction was anger but, hey, that Just comes from the fact that NCAE money and property were being destroyed before they had a chance to reach maximal potential. I admit that I orginally thought of these vandals as being a few skuU-rocked, neo-nazi fanatics with a God complex. But was that unreasonable? Let's face it, to know what is going on in the minds of the NCAE staff' who designed this discussion as well as what the outcome of that discussion wiU be, without ever speaking to anyone involved, requires omnscience, right? Furthermore, to stand in judgment as to what will be discussed by other people on campus suggests an understanding tantamount to either fascism or divinity and let it never be said that I refused the benefit of the doubt. Nevertheless, as it turns out, the NCAE owes a debt of thanks to the Skull- Rocked family. By tearing down the signs, they created an atmosphere of controversy that caught the attention of students that mere announcements never could. They actually increased attendance! So thank you Mr. or Mrs. Vandal, whoever you are, for getting the N CAE off to a fine start. We will be having another discussion soon. What do you think about, "Homosexually Deviant Bible Teachers in the Classroom?" Catchy, huh? on November 29, when they were de feated by UNCA with a final score of 81-74. AccordingtoCoachMcNamara, in the first half, the Cavs had one of the best winning streaks in M-AC's history, but the streak turned around towands the end. With a minute left in the game, the Cavs made some fouls, which cost the team the victory. Two of the top scorers were Brad Gabriel, with 16 points, and Aaixrn Gabriel with 14. The most recent game that the Cavs vied was away at Virginia Inter- monL The Cavs lost by ascoreof97-82. Virginia Intermont tied for first place in the Conference last season. Although the Cavs stayed close until the last two minutes, in the last stretch of the game, the team missed a crucial 3-point shot The top scorers were senior Rodney Scott, with 18 points, and Brad Gabriel with 16. The Cavs will contend against Tusculum College on December 4 at 4pm The Men will also battle Milligan College on December 9 at 8pm. Both of these games will be at McAlister Gym According to Coach McNamara, the Cavs are looking forward to the matches because they are both home games. Coach McNamara was im pressed by the turnout of people who came out to support the team at the last home game. He hopes that fans will return to support die team for the home games coming up.
