I'know.that as 1 approach this next four months the Lord has been'co'ntinually pressing on.my heart his , attitude of humility and how much I miss when I am consumed and focused with’myself We read and understand that at the core of Jesus’teaching and life is the message that we must loose our life in order to gain it. The gospel of John records John the Baptist’s testimony saying, “He [Christ] must become, greater; I must become less” (John 3:30). ' • ' ' ' • People say that man’s greatest testimony to how .he believes is best seen through his actions (i.e. actions speak louder than words). Thus,,as some of us travel home to family and friends, start that new job, return fo your normal summer job or'hang around here we, are going to be in contact -with, people who may or may no.t be believers. But, our greatest tpstimony to Christ is often not spouting Scripture to everyone we -see/but instead it is living a selfless life. . . Tlie Lord challenges us in humility to give up our life and our desires in order that we may give ourselves " completely to others and thus to the Lord, Therefore, the challenge for not only my life, but also, yours, is that we begin to livc-this life of selflessness and start it. this summer. Maybe we need to ask how we-can take the I out of the questions what am I going to do with my family, -what friends will I see . or make over the next few months-, or what work do I need to do for the semester and add the what the ■ - Lord desires instead! ' ■ - Jesus lowered himself to nothing, becoming a suffering servant on our behalf We are called to do the same.
