BELIEF
Over Fall Break
‘I think, therefore I am.”
By: Mamie Kisermouse
You’ve heard it said,
Indeed, one must not think highly of himself.
For all his corrupt and vile thinking,
Will surely think him self out of existence.
Another has said, “Life is systematic and orderly.”
Sadly, unable to understand he has no control,
on order becomes disorder, without explanation,
Flis life then, systematically destroying himself.
in truth, there is only one who can say, “I am.”
in Him, hope is eternal and life, a joy of being,
^an s spirit of sinful existence destroys himself.
But the spirit of sonship gives life everlasting.

As students ventured to many
different places for their short vaca
tion, the eampus was left in a
very quiet setting that only happens
when the campus is on Fall Break.
Some students stuck around, most
went home, the women’s soccer
team traveled Pittsburgh to play
NCAA III opponent LaRoche Col
lege. They won their game 3 to
1. Here are some of the stories
from students who left MC during
break.
Senior Nikki Leaverton traveled
home to Texas and also spent a few
days in Arkansas. She spent most
of her time visiting relatives and
catching up with family. She visited
her brother who had just become
engaged. When Nikki was

Montreat College alumni, “Iffy”

Many students seized this oppor

Sincere thanks goes out to all
Montreat students who attended the
concert and reached deep into their
pockets to give financial assistance
for an important cause. Organizers
of this event gratefully recognize
the Town of Montreat for issuing
a noise permit on spur of moment,
six days prior to the concert. Under
nonnal circumstances, noise per

ahead of time. Student Activities
also deserve special appreciation
for sponsoring this event. Their
generous contribution significantly
generated much success for this
concert.

After being postponed for a
prayer convocation, the Environ
mental Science department pre
sented the American Ecosystems
convocation on Tuesday, the 2nd
of October. Featuring a slide show
of numerous sites that previous
classes had seen, as well as testimo
nies of students that had taken the
class. Ecosystems was opened up
for preliminary interest. The main
goal of this convocation was to
infonn students about a class this
summer called American Ecosys
tems, a 4 credit 305 level Environ
mental Studies course. This is not,
however, a conventional class.
The thing that sets this class
apart from any other class that
a student might have taken is
that throughout the course of 24
days, this class travels by bus to
many different bionics and life
zones throughout the west. For the
layman, this is essentially a road
trip across the country to sec some
of the most breathtaking sites that
this country has to offer while get
ting a science credit. Although this
is not just a vacation, it is a real
class with real work, but the tradi
tional classroom dynamics do not
apply to this course.
