Page 2 • The Whetstone • April 19, 2002 Spiritual Munchies... By Jennifer Albertson Dancing is a wonderful and beautiful thing that was created by God. Ihe Psalmist calls believers to “...praise His name with dtmcing, making melody to Him with ttimbourine and lyre!” (Psalm 149:3). Even King Solomon writes that there is “a time to tnourn, and a time to dtuice” (Ecclesiastes 3:4). Dancing is good. However, like all tilings in our life, good things can akso be twisted and thus not pleasing to the Lord. It is a great challenge for mo, per sonally, to write about this because 1 have been a lover of dtmcing, in almost any way, to any music that has a beat. But, at Spring Formal this year, 1 was challengal in this thinking! What does our dancing and type of music portray about Montreat as a Christian College? What does it imply about our own Christian walk? Did the DJ's Saturday night see any dilTerence between us, as representatives of Montreat College, and students of secular schools? Were we tnie representatives of Jesus Chri.st and a community of Believers? These are questions tliat 1 cannot atiswcr for anyone else. So, I will leave you with two passages. “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your con duct...”(1 Peter 1:15). “Train yourself for godliness.. .godliness is of value in everyway, as it holds promises for the present life and tilso for the life to come” (T I Timothy 4; 7b, 8b).
