This year is a new beginning filled with opportunities for Fellow ship of Christian ./Vlhletes (FC.'V). (However,.one does not need to be an athlete to participate,) Our theme this year comes from Jeremiah 12:5: “If you have run with footmen and they have tired you out. Then how can you compete with horses? If you fall down in a land of peace, How will you do in the thicket of Jordan?” We want to learn how to “set the pace,” just as God has already done in our lives. It is easier to hold on to a grudge and allow scars of bitterness and hatred to grow deeper and wider until a relationship has been completely destroyed. In the same way our relationship with God is broken and cannot be restored without forgive ness. Scripture is clear that none of us deserve forgiveness from God. We are sinful and deserve judgment and punishment, yet oin God chooses to merci fully forgive those who call on the name of Jesus, His ultimate act of for giveness w'as displayed in the cross. Jesus Christ died because the Father loved us so much that He wanted to forgive us even though we w'ere unde serving. This is the key to being kind and compassionate to others and fos tering lives of true forgiveness. If God could send His Son to die in order to forgive us, how could we not be willing to forgive others the wrongs they commit against us?, Outside of knowing Jesus Christ, true, lasting, trans forming forgiveness cannot be fully given or received. May we all accept the forgiveness God has given us in Christ Jesus and freely bestow it upon one another in kindness and compassion, : Forgive us our trespasses, as we also forgive those who trespass against us.
