Summer is finally here and we are each anticipating the exciting things that will fill our sunny days. Many will be returning to family in another city or state altogether while others will be staying in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is an exciting time because the pressure is gone and there are perhaps vacations to look forward to. It can also be a sad time as we say good-bye to roommates and friends until the fall semester. As we eaeh go in our separate ways for the summer let us always remember that, no matter where we go and what we do, our God is always with us. I pray that you will feel the blessings of his presence in all that you do this summer. I pray that you will know the grace of God that he has shown you through his son Jesus Christ. I pray that you would seek him in every situation and in every place this summer and that he would give you his peace. May the Lord bless you and keep you all the days of your life. ; Graduate Together Continued from page 1 that strives to recognize the accom plishments of the non- traditional stu dents in academics, leadership roles, and in the community. As I stand on the brink of impending transition, in the meta phorical batter’s box ready for my last at bat, I have a sense of stoicism at times. While at other times I have a casual confidence that allows me to plan my next move, shrugging off the suicide squeeze sign and deciding to go yard; after all it is game seven and the headlines would look better the next morning if it went down this way. Game seven has a magnetism that is undeniable, an ambitious yearning stmggled after with adversity and tales of triumph along the way that have cul minated in one final at bat. Admittedly, magnanim ity was not always retained and gross indecisions were made, making it seem at times like achieving this apex was a comedy of errors working out in the protagonist’s favor. But the sub stantial element is making it to game seven. So what comes after game seven? There is much uncertainty in regards to this topic, but there is always next season. A new chance to make magic is held on each muggy afternoon of spring training, the possibility of making it to another game seven lingers like the humidity of a Florida afternoon (unless you are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays). So as graduation approaches the only thing I can do is finish this game and know that there will be joy in Mudville tonight.
