Thursday, October 2 11:00 a.m. Chapel Program with William Haynes ’85 1-6 p.m. Registration and Locator Desk Open - Gaither Fellowship Hall 6:30 p.m. The class of 1963 will be having dinner at Outback Steakhouse in Asheville. 7:30 p.m. Coffee house with Matt Auten ’92 Matt Auten is a local folk singer, songwriter, guitarist and 1992 graduate. Auten is a familiar face around the Montreat campus and still enjoys playing for the students. He started writing songs in the fall of his sophomore year. Due to the success of his first independent record, Auten was able to contract with Silent Planet Records. His last album. New Found Land was released in 1999. Critics have compared Auten to James Taylor, Dan Fogelberg, and David Wilcox. Friday, October 3 9 a.m.-6p.m. Registration and Locator Desk Open - Gaither Fellowship Hall Afternoon Academic Showcase - Gaither Fellowship Hall 3:00 p.m. Men’s Soccer vs. USC Spartanburg The Cavaliers confront challenging opponent USC Spartanburg on the new Montreat Soccer Fields at the Black Mountain Campus. The Montreat team suffered a not-so-successful season last year, but things are looking up this fall. Sophomore goalie/defensive player Don Hamilton says, “We have better players than last year,” but the team is still working on playing together as a team. 7:00 p.m. Class of‘53 -50th Reunion President’s Dinner - IntheOaks Manor House 6:30-9 p.m. Bluegrass and BBQ with the Stoney Creek Boys and Rob Robinson -The Bam What do you get when you mix barbecue, a blue grass band, and a bam? You guessed it... A BARN DANCE featuring the Stoney Creek Boys with caller Rob Robinson. It doesn’t matter if you know how to dance or don’t; Mr. Robinson will decode the square dance lingo and walk ya’ll on through it. So if’n you’re feeling limber, or even a might hungry, come on down and have a good ol’ time with a side o’ BBQ. So gents shine your boots, and ladies grab a bonnet, because we ’re going to party like it’s October 2003! 9 p.m. Alumni Basketball Game - McAlister Gym Saturday, October 4 8:30 a.m. Alumni Board Meeting with Class Representatives - Gaither Chapel 9-2 p.m. Registration and Locator Desk Open - Gaither Fellowship Hall 9-12 p.m. Academic Showcase - Gaither Fellowship Hall 10-5:30 p.m. Outdoor Adventure for Kids (Ages 12-16) - Gaither Fellowship Hall Junior Alumni Club for Kids (Ages 5-11) - Gaither Fellowship Hall Alumni and Faculty/Staff kids will have a blast on Saturday from 10-5:30pm with the Outdoor Adventure (ages 12-16) and the Junior Alumni Club (ages 5-11).
