Missions Continued from page 1 also connecting with the Union Mission and the Midnight Mis sion, where they served in the kitchens. Student team member Charizma Chapman found their time in Skid Row to be eye opening, “You hear about it but then you see it, and it’s a bigger problem than you ever thought... where do you start helping these people?” The Montreat team started helping Skid Row residents by tutoring and mentoring kids through an after school program, run by the Central City Church. Kids in the program attended Ninth Street School, a makeshift ensemble of twenty-year old por table structures. Nikki Nikki Thomas, a freshman Elementary Education major, blasts “Yeah” by Usher in her car and room, but “wherever it’s playing it’s got to be loud.” She continues, “I love the song because it’s loud and exciting, and it makes you want to get up and dance.” Sophomore English Commu nications major Erin Jones finds that listening to The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” makes her happy. She admits, “I play it before my 8 am class to get moving and energized!” Jenn Jenn Davis embraces songs for every occasion. This freshman Eng lish Literature major listens to Opera sensation Josh Groban - specifically what she calls “the best love song in the universe, ‘My Confession’” - while writing a paper. They were created to ride motorcycles in the crisp air.” Easter 11 from the ''' —— lf%etkone Freshman Zeke Ammons, lingers in what he terms the “I have no idea major,” a.k.a. Undeclared. He can’t pinpoint a particular song that puts him in a good mood because, “I listen to so many different types of music - some unknown, some well-known. It seems like whenever 1 get a favorite song it’s replaced with a new one the next day.” He admits, “1 used to be able to tell someone what’s playing in my CD player, but now all my music is on my computer in a group.” ,J L..
