The Oxford English Dic-
tionaty defines propaganda
as: information, especially
of a biased or misleading
nature, used to promote a
political cause or point of
view. Propaganda is what I
heard someone call Dont
Tread On Me, the YCC
jublication. We at YCC are
biased, but we are not mis-
eading. There are two types
of propagandists, those
who are biased and honest,
and those who are biased
and misleading. There are
honest propagandists and
dishonest propagandists.
I’m the honest one, unlike
our president who, for the
most part, the dishonest
one. We just both can’t be
honest propagandists. I
know my facts are straight,
like history has proven
capitalism produces a richer
and wealthier nation for all,
while socialism produces a
poorer nation, o^reading
the wealth doesnt create a
nation full of richer indi
viduals, but rather a nation
full of poor people, and
those who are rich are those
in power (didn’t Obama say
something about “spreading
the wealth?’’).
Ronald Reagan beauti
fully (notice I said beau
tifully, its propaganda!)
stated during his Inaugural
address: “In this present
crisis, government is not the
solution to our problem;
f overnment is tne problem.
rom time to time we’ve
been tempted to believe
that society has become too
complex to be managed by
self-rule, that government
by an elite group is superior
to government for, by, and
f overnment” wouldn’t have
een politically correct nor
would it make the people
do some research on their
own, and understand what
he is saying with “present
crisis.” Government has
proven itself time after time
that it can’t do anything
correctly other than wage
war. And to quote the
in other words he took
government hands out of
the cookie jar. The effects of
little government interven
tion are seen in the Clinton
administration.
Whoa, what? Yes, in the
Clinton administration.
According to economists,
it takes roughly 4-8 years
for fiscal policy changes
PROPAGANDAAIERT!

THE PROBLEM WITH SOCIALIS
IS THAT EVENTUALLY YOU RUN
OUT OF OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY
of the people. Well, if no
one among us is capable
of governing himself, then
who among us has the
capacity to govern someone
else? All of us together, in
and out of government,
must bear tne burden.”
When Reagan said “pres
ent crisis” he referred to the
power the Carter adminis
tration had over the Ameri
can people. Therefore, if
you replace “present crisis
with “big government,” it
would say: “With this big
government, government
is not the solution to our
problem; government is the
problem.” Reagan is smarter
than I and saying “big
Letter to Congress
Dan Ruck
Pe^le of Congress!
Tnere is a lot of talk about
the separation of church
and state. Where does that
come from? It’s not in the
Constitution. Our first
amendment states nothing
of the sort. It states:
Congress shall make no law
respecting an establishment
of religion, or prohibiting
the free exercise thereof....
There is nothing in this
statement that says the state
and the church are com
pletely separate from each
other. It says that congress
cannot pass a law “respect
ing an establishment of reli
gion.” In other words there
cannot be a state orgovern-
ment ran religion. The next
phrase “prohibiting the free
exercise thereof” states that
the government or state
cannot limit our freedom of
worship. To what I see, they
have already broken the
first amendment. First by
taking the pledge out of our
schoms and now we see this
with the Boy Scouts. The
government is now banning
the Scouts use of govern
ment property. This is the
last year tne Boy Scouts of
America will be allowed to
hold the 2010 jamboree
on government property. I
see this as prohibiting tne
exercise of religion.
I ask once again, does the
Constitution of the United
States say that we are to
have church and state sepa
rate? The first amendment
states that there is to be no
governing authority over
religion. It also states that
there is to be no religious

most important General
in World War II, Patton,
because he is just that cool
and important:
“Americans loves a winner.
Americans will not tolerate
a loser. Americans despise
cowards. Americans play
to win all of the time. I
wouldn’t give a hoot in hell
for a man who lost and
laughed. That’s why Ameri
cans have never lost nor will
ever lose a war; for the very
idea of losing is hateful to
an American.” (Propaganda
alert! Italics added!)

administration he lowered

authority or institution. So
where do the elects (con
gress, senate, and the white
house) get away with saying
when and where we can
and cannot worship? We
elected the government, but
not to rule however they
want. The people of the
United States are the ones
in the end who get to say
what the government can or
cannot do.
People of congress, I
ask you, where do you get
the idea that church and
state need to be separate?
Was this great country
not founued on Christian
morals? Did the founding
fathers risk everything, so
that our Constitution can
be violated? If you think
such, there is no use for
you in congress... or in any
other government branch,
for that matter.
to take effect in the macro
economy. For everybody
who points to Clinton as
an idol and one of the best

pi
Reagan for Clinton’s rich
years (biased and honest
propaganda alert!). Every
thing Clinton did aided in
destroying Bush’s final years
in office, 4-8 shift, sub
prime mortgages were done

fiasco a year before Obama
went into office. Thanks
to Newt Gingrich during
Clinton’s years. Bush’s final
years weren’t as bad as they
could have been. What
did the Capitalist ideol
ogy do for Clinton (even

though he didn’t employ
it, Gingrich did)? It in part
balanced the budget; the
unemployment rate was less
than 4.00% for 40 months.
Four percent. Can you
really comprehend such a
number? The average for
European Nations is 8%.
We are now at 9.9%. We
have surpassed those social
ist nations.
If you look at the graph
for USA unemployment
rate from 1890 to 2009
there is a trend towards
more and more unem
ployed people. There are
two spikes. One, is obvi
ously the great depression
and the otners are two re
cessions that occurred back
to back at the end of the
19th century. Other than
that for the most part the
unemployment rate is lower
than 5% up until 1974 and
it didn’t get that low for 30
years. Wfiat’s the trend? The
trend is that the unem
ployment rate is climbing
slowly over the years. Not
exponentially and untruth
fully like Al Gore’s global
warming graph, but rather
slowly (propaganda alert!).
The cause of the trend is
the increase of government
control over the American
private sector. It’s simple.
It’s easy. It’s not hard to
understand. It’s the Incon
venient Truth.
On Monday, April 26,
2010, Montreat College
hosted a “law night” with
the Charlotte Scnool of
Law at Montreat College’s
Charlotte SPAS campus
from 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
Students talked with admis
sion representatives from
the law school, received
information, had some
cake and tea, and won door
prizes. “Up to six SPAS stu
dents are seeking admission
into the Charlotte School
of Law,” stated Dr. Eve Car
lin, Business Law instructor
at Montreat College.”This
event gave students the
opportunity to sit down
and talk with r^resenta-
tives from the Charlotte
School of Law and have an
informal interview.” On
Wednesday, April 28, 2010,
four local lawyers from
F,
the Asheville area spoke to
over 35 Montreat College
students at the main cam-
jus. These students were
rom Dr. Cindy Howell’s
Business Communication
class and Dr. Hub Powell’s
Introduction to Business
class. The lawyers spoke on
the value of good com
munication skills, both
verbal and written, in the
legal profession. They also
discussed the types of cases
they handle and their pro
fessional backgrounds.
At the two law events, the
winners of the Montreat
College law writing essay
contest were announced.
Congrats to Audrey Coff
man, (SAS winner), and
Carol Naples (SPAS win
ner).
