Sefl-. 20 W Editor’s note “No weapon formed against me shall prosper” Isaiah 54:17. Life consists of obstacles that are placed in our path that we must overcome. We are knocked down and pushed around but never allowing these challenges to define you leads to suc cess. My name is Cassidy O’Brien. 1 am the Whetstone’s new Editor-in-Chief. Q^roverfs tS:24 ^feasant words are a Son^comf, sweet to the souf and foeafin^ to the hones. calls us to use this power for Solomon reveals here one of the key ingredients to a wonder ful, wholesome life, awesome words. As college students, life is not easy. Whether due to homework, sport injuries, money problems or that creepy sound in your room that seems to have no origin, life can be uneasy. Here Solomon suggests words might actually be the antidote to that unhappy existence. The nonsensical anti-bullying chant, “Sticks and stones will hurt my bones but your words will not”, is probably one of the greatest lies society has ever ingested. Words rip us apart down to our very soul. Christ the ultimate goal of redemp tion. Let our words lift people’s souls, instead of burning down, let us build with our tongues, patching souls and mending bones with the “deep magic” of utterance. Not only should we seek to enrich others with our words but we are able to enrich ourselves too. Read poems and listen to music that speaks positivity to the depths of you and shake off those haters...! mean problems. If we learn to say we are beautiful, smart, strong and awesome we are literally putting into existence what the creator thinks of us. We were after all crafted from words and are inevi tably shaped and attracted by them. Let not your power run rampage, but wield it in the redemptive capacity Christ intends for us as Christians.
