0U3^ |April, Spring 2015 Cyber-security: More Than computing Montreats cyber security team is rapidly morphing into one of the most esteemed programs in Montreat. With the launch of a new logo and a total revamping of their lab we see a dynamic move ment towards better things. The team has also seen recent success and exposure in diverse cyber security events. The team recently attended the Southeast collegiate cyber defense competition that saw them come into contact with other cyber defense programs from other schools and have opportu nities to network with a plethora of cyber-defense companies. The team progressed to the regional competition that comprised of the best 8-cyber defense programs in the region. The team comprised of Ryan Walker, Akira Shavers, Justin Lance, David Teo, Thomas Hill, Adam Shuman, Esgardo Arroyo, and Kasey McCall performed to the best of their capability and still await the results of their evalua tion. The Cyber security defense program seems to have undergone a complete re-birth, one that is seeing them blossom in and out of the classroom. According to reports the judges at the competition were greatly impressed with the way the Montreat team handled themselves. This being Montreats second time participating in the competition we look forward to even greater achievements in competitions to come. The Cyber security defense program seems to be on the track to great things. Montreat as a whole seems to be getting on the “greater things” track.
